*** ex-NFL player Kwame Harris comes out

Quote:

Kwame Harris, a former offensive tackle for the 49ers and the Raiders recently admitted to being *** in an interview with CNN on Friday morning.

See the full interview here.

Harris told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield that keeping his sexuality a secret while playing in the NFL wasn’t easy.

Harris was outed by the media after he pled not guilty to charges of beating up and ex-boyfriend in January.

“The cost was great in asking me to not speak candidly or be able to be open about myself in a complete manner,” Harris said. “If I could have done it differently, I would have hoped I found the strength [to come out].”

According to USA Today, Harris’ outing was met with negative reaction from 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver.

“I don’t do the *** guys man,” Culliver said. “I don’t do that. No, we don’t got no *** people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do. Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can’t be…in the locker room man. Nah.”

Culliver later apologized for his comments.

Harris said that he hopes that his experience can help others going through the same struggle.

“I want people, whether *** athletes, athletes still in the closet, or youths who are not sure what their sexuality is to know those are common feelings,” Harris said. “Don’t feel alone in having them.”

Not really earth shattering news...he beat up his ex boyfriend over stolen underwear LOL.

TitanHope 03-30-2013 09:38 PM

He already has grey hair. To me, that's a much bigger issue, and he should be ashamed.

... And soy sauce. Important to get all the facts on the table.

BallerT1215 03-30-2013 09:43 PM

Yeah - his boyfriend beatdown already outed him months ago.

I dunno, I'm with stewart on this one and see it as a sign that *** americans are first and foremost still 'muricans.

"You guys"? Did you just out yourself?

I've admitted to going both ways before.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out one day that Timmy enjoys the company of other men.

Wasn't trying to start a *** vs straight battle... Just pointing it out. IMO it'd be better for the league if a star player came out.

Kwame Harris was already a hated man by niner fans. I've actually heard people say "Well that explains a lot...." after he came out. Not really helping "the cause."

Imagine if Bryant Young came out. That'd be a huge victory for the *** community.

MaxV 04-01-2013 07:29 AM

Culliver HAD to be joking when he made those comments.

"I don't do *** guys man"?

Okay.

On a slightly off-topic note, I like how the forums bleep out *** like it's a vulgarity. Way to go, forums. I thought at first the OP had used a really offensive slang and I was on a warpath, then realized it was just weird forum censoring.

The reality is that the word is more often used as a vulgarity than any of its literal definitions.

I've seen 13 year old kids with gray hair. That's nothing new.

Guys wanna come out, cool. Tell your friends and family and move on. But I get a laugh when they think making world announcements to proclain their sexuality should inspire others.

Kwame, you sucked. You inspire no one. You are not this shining beacon example for the entire *** world to adore.

yo123 04-01-2013 06:49 PM

People talking about his on field performance are kinda missing the point.

descendency 04-01-2013 06:58 PM

I just find it funny how this guy comes out (and every other *** or bi person I've known, for that matter) pretty much after everyone already knew the fact.

Exactly. I don't think any player should ever "come out" because it has absolutely nothing to do with football and will only serve as a distraction to the team and the player. Keep your personal lives personal.

So you're saying Tom Brady's marriage to Gisele Bundchen should be totally secret?

How does it feel to be a douche?

yo123 04-01-2013 08:17 PM

Yeah, the idea that people should need to hide a sizable part of their identity based on a possibility that it might create a minor inconvenience for you is strange at best.

I thought you were just curious. So you've, like, taken it before?
