Bucky Brooks' Current QB Rankings

Teddy Bridgewater isn't #1

Here's his top 16 currently.

Bo #16! He has been playing mistake free football (knock on wood) to this point, and questionable decision making was his biggest knock. Not a huge arm or a conventional QB by any means, but if he keeps improving who knows what will happen.

All I know about Bo is that I am a fan. He can be maddening at times, but he is a leader, is tough, and is the best quarterback we have had in a while. Very good athlete with some tools who is developing as a passer.

Still not feeling the Aaron Murray love. I'd have Jameis, Mettenberg, and maybe Morris over him. Also how is Braxton Kelly still on that list? He hasn't played in a game and a half and has done nothing this year.

Braxton Miller? wouldnt have him on the list if he had played. I'm a little confused if it's pro prospects or just college QBs. And it probably doesn't make sense to have guys that aren't draft eligible or there is a real case for Christian Hackenburg.

Two guys i have in my top 6 (Bortles and Fales) aren't even on the list.

Morris is not a better pro prospect than Murray.

I love how he puts running QBs over "conventional" QBs even after seeing how defenses adjust.

Running QBs get to run and be effective for one year, the next seems to be not as plentiful for them.

Bucky always has ****** ratings though. He's terrible at this draft scouting thing.

Do you know if these are rankings based on pro potential or just as a college QBs?

It says NFL draft tracker.

norcalgsr 09-19-2013 10:36 PM

Bucky is horrible. He's going to rank a redshirt Freshman?

Where's Brett Smith and Chuckie Keeton? They're better MWC QBs than Carr.

Where's the other blue chip Freshman, Christian Hackenberg?

Jeff Mathews?
Blake Bortles?
Sean Mannion?
Travis Wilson?

As much as I like Gardner, he's mostly upside right now. How do you throw more INTs than TDs against Central Michigan and Akron?

I think it's just a random list of his favorite QBs because it's obvious he doesn't watch enough football.

I'm pretty sure he gets a lot of his info from the NFL scouting community and he is the NFL.com's lead scout, so I wouldn't completely dismiss these rankings.
He's paid to scout college players on a full time basis. How good he is at it is still up in the air although he was an NFL scout for years.

Bridgewater is 3rd. Something is totally wrong with these rankings.

Bucky is a "former" NFL scout for a reason

He didn't dominate Kentucky like he was expected to last week.

Which matters not one bit when looking at his NFL potential.

Good to see Bucky Brooks knows whats up with Jameis Winston.

Mariota baby... Reppin' the 50th state.

What is it with this guy and Bucky Brooks? This is the 12th Bucky Brooks thread he's made in the past two years.

Well it appears these rankings are fluid and change on a weekly basis. Therefore an avg performance against a bad team dropped him this week.

Bridgewater hype is hilarious to me as well. He is good but nothing really separates him from the other good QBs. He had a good game against Florida in the bowl game. He doesn't have a special quality just a media darling and amateur draftnik favorite. He is a good prospect but not some special Luck caliber player which people seem to be hyping him up to be.

I would love to see Bortles start getting some respect by all the media types. He may actually be the better pro prospect when comparing the two.

Ok ready for all the fanboys to criticize me now :)

Halsey 09-20-2013 12:57 PM

You can probably find games where Colin Kaepernick didn't dominate a Nevada opponent or where Joe Flacco didn't dominate a Delaware opponent.

Bortles is right there with Bridgewater as far as movement in the pocket, vision and ball placement. The fact that Brooks doesn't have him in his list of QBs pretty much disqualifies him from being credible.

Feeling the love from a 5'11" QB who's not great athletically and struggles to find throwing lanes the other short (Vick/Wilson/Brees) quarterbacks in the league do? Dude hasn't really improved since he became a starter, really.

Go into scouting to get on TV. The same way bands make music to sell t-shirts.

Bucky cool man.

bucfan12 09-20-2013 08:21 PM

I'm still not buying Marriota's pro potential when he's 3 games into his sophomore year. Put on the tape against Stanford and see how you grade him.

Not saying he isn't going to be a top prospect, but we've seen this before with young QBs at Oregon. To me, it's the system. After 3 weeks, Chip Kelly's "high octane" offense doesn;'t look to great does it?

my top 5 QBs:
1. Bridgewater
2. Bortles
3. Hundley
4. McArron
5. Murray.
