Week 11 Packers @ Giants

We get the Giants NOT during their pathetic turnover-filled 6-game losing streak, but now when they are riding a 3-game winning streak and now just one game (loss column) behind their division leaders.
Both Dallas and Philly have 5 losses.

Eli has settled down, has not turned the ball over much in the past 3 games. I can't remember if he had an Int this week vs Oak, I think maybe one.
But the previous two games he had no Ints.

Their defense is starting to roll, and their pass rush has awakened. JPP is getting going again, and will be a test for whatever OL is healthy enough to play and try and block him.

We got killed there in NY last year, with Rodgers, Cobb, Finley, Jones healthy.

I don't like our chances at all.
I'd love to see Tolzien prove to be a great backup capable of winning games.
I'd love to see our defense magically morph into one with a pass rush, and with capable safety play back there, and tackling from everyone.
IMO, Capers is playing for his job.

I see, like last week, things just not going our way, and I see the Giants winning going away again over us, in an ugly game. This will be the Giants 3rd straight win over us.

True that NY has not been kind recently, but I'm not necessarily buying that the Giants are on as much of a roll as the media is making it out to be. Yes they have won 3 games in a row, but they have beaten the Eagles with Barkley at QB, the Vikings with Freeman at QB (had only been with the team a week), and the Raiders with a gimpy Pryor (his best asset is his legs). None of those wins really impress me. Not saying that we should run through them because obviously the Packers have issues of their own, but this is a winnable game.

If Tolzien can keep up the good things we saw last week and cut down on the turnovers we should have a chance to win.

Pretty accurate.

BloodBrother 11-17-2013 03:08 PM

Shields is inactive, Barclay to. Nick Perry out as well

this secondary is gonna get destroyed by Nicks/Cruz

princefielder28 11-17-2013 03:24 PM

This is going to be an ugly game.

BloodBrother 11-17-2013 03:52 PM

Yep

secondary loses another starter, Newhouse is at RT

its a freakin disaster these days

princefielder28 11-17-2013 03:54 PM

We need to run some screens today. With having Newhouse at right tackle, it shouldn't be difficult for him to play screen action. Brandon Bostick also needs to be a greater part of the game plan.

J-Mike88 11-17-2013 04:33 PM

Cannot believe Newhouse has to start.
Who are the 1st & 2nd backups on the OL today?

J-Mike88 11-17-2013 04:34 PM

Nice fuqing block there on Jenkins EDS.
WTF

BloodBrother 11-17-2013 05:19 PM

This D sucks, simply put

princefielder28 11-17-2013 05:26 PM

Great interception by Tramon

our defense lacks physicality

princefielder28 11-17-2013 05:28 PM

We need to keep throwing the football to try and get Lacy some holes.

J-Mike88 11-17-2013 05:30 PM

They are 100% expecting us to run on 1st down.
So pass.

That's key.

Can't believe we got an interception. But if we ever got one this year, Eli would be the one you'd bet on serving it up.

TimmG6376 11-17-2013 05:35 PM

Newhouse is so horrible.

J-Mike88 11-17-2013 05:36 PM

3rd & 5, Newhouse beaten around the edge fast, forces incompletion.
Points off turnovers, ZERO.

He's softer than Jonathon Martin.

Eli ran away from Mike Neal there... but at least pressure.
Here comes another 3rd down for the Giants.... how about a sack????

princefielder28 11-17-2013 05:49 PM

Sherrod is active, they need to at least give him a chance to play.

princefielder28 11-17-2013 06:00 PM

Jolly out with a groin injury

princefielder28 11-17-2013 06:41 PM

Well, that's no good.

BloodBrother 11-17-2013 06:49 PM

MM's playcalling isn't really impressing me. Looks like Rodgers has been bailing him out

well, Rodgers must return next week because this team has no chance of winning any game without Rodgers.

J-Mike88 11-17-2013 07:32 PM

There have been some who have been saying that without Rodgers, Thompson and McCarthy would have been flipping burgers long ago.

Obviously an exaggeration, but the team looks like a 2-14 Jacksonville type of team without him.

His playcalling was horrible early, way too predictable. Got us down 10-0 with it, before we even had a first down.

princefielder28 11-17-2013 08:26 PM

I ran to Wal-Mart following the game, and all I heard on local radio what Matt Flynn should start next week. Hell no! There's probably many reasons why both Oakland and Buffalo, QB deprived teams, released him this year, and Tolzien has shown some positive; specifically having zip on his passes and the ability to drive the ball down the field through the air. Tolzien has made some poor passes leading to devastating results, but everyone has to remember that this was his first career start.

bigboiajhawk 11-17-2013 08:47 PM

Well, the defense did not hold up. I was infuriated by the number of passes in the middle of the field or the seam that went for 7-12 yards.

The trend that I am not liking is that our defense is giving up way too many rushing yards lately. While the Giants did not run for too many yards, when they needed -1,-2,-3 yards, they would get it.

I liked what Tolzien did today. Again, he threw 3 picks, but two of them were really good plays by the defender.

I agree with J-Mike about MM's playcalling. I really really hated his run plays.

I truly think we beat the Vikings with Tolzien, but our defense has to get off the damn field. I mean, even on Tramon's INT, the Giants stated the drive on like the 10 yard line, drove all the way down the field, and almost scored.

Agreed...he even stood strong in the pocket and took a couple of major hits.

I have also noticed this. It has gotten to the point where I am more nervous about 3rd and 10+ more than 3rd and medium, because I know if a team wants to attack us deep they would likely be successful and that our short length run D is not great. I think having Jolly would have helped as would Shields but this has been a reoccurring issue even prior to these injuries.

Quick Stat From PFF: Eli Manning went 5/5 and a TD for 97 yards on passes thrown 10-19 yards down field. That is terrible for us.

Another Quick Stat From Using PFF: S Chris Banjo has played 105 coverage snaps for us this year. Of all those snaps hes been targeted twice. Both of the times he was targeted he came up with a pass defensed. I look at this and think maybe he is just covering people well enough so QB's don't target him. But with our coverage this year maybe QB's are just seeing much more obvious coverage holes elsewhere. I think we should increase his snaps at FS, just a thought.
