The Chiefs and Broncos game was flexed to 3:25.

Rob S 11-26-2013 12:26 AM

The Bills begin their march to 8-7 and the inevitable drubbing at the hands of Ryan Mallett and LeGarrate Blount in week 17. Prepare your bodies.

vidae 11-26-2013 12:36 AM

The homer in me thinks the Chiefs have a shot against the Broncos, but the realist in me is 100% sure that we'll win.

Awwww yeah. Flipped the script on y'all.

But 8-8 might just be enough to make the playoffs anyway.

Ravens week. Steelers have been looking good. The Ravens are pretty unbeatable at home, but I'm not sure that's the case this year. Should be a good game.

Really looking forward to the MNF game.

If it's 1997, that crap team will somehow be Green Bay!

Actually, I'd rather not lose to the Broncos again. That Super Bowl was one of the low points of my youth.

It's funny. I remember watching Sports Reporters that morning and one of the guys said that after Green Bay rolled right over Denver, the Packers free agents would take hometown discounts to return to Green Bay and try for a three-peat. Everybody just assumed they would win the game. After the game, all of the talk was that Green Bay got distracted during their two weeks off, and if it weren't for such a long delay in action, the Packers would have surely won. I was devastated.

But looking back on it, I know that Denver was legitimately the better team. They not only went back for a repeat; but even going into the game, the advanced statistics were on their side. That Broncos team led the league in Pythagorean Wins and (even though it didn't exist at the time) they were basically tied with the Packers in DVOA. I actually felt *a lot* better after I figured out that the better team won.

pythagorean wins or no, I remember those Broncos being heavy, heavy underdogs. Amazing game, really one for the ages.

Agreed. Elway even gave us one of the NFL's iconic plays:

I hate John Elway and everything he stands for.

Is Houston and Hali out for awhile? I need to know for fantasy football reasons.

bigbluedefense 11-26-2013 11:30 AM

Back then the NFCCG was the real SB. I wouldn't even watch the SB half the time. My uncle worked at an arcade and it would be empty on the SB so me and my brothers would go and play free games all night. It was amazing.

And then we'd look up at the score on the TVs every now and then and see Dallas/SF was up by like 20.

So, more people can see the Chiefs lose.

Central time is disgusting.

That made the Packers/Broncos game even worse for me. The NFC had won something like 13 in a row, and then the Packers are the team that ***** it up.

Looks like Hali will be back as early as this week. Houston is likely out for this Sunday though. :(

Do I need to pick up a defense for the playoffs to protect KC or will I be straight?

I saw this one and the Patriots/Packers one. Both were good games. I'm not gonna lie, I was rooting for Parcells bro. I'm a Parcells guy, what can I say.

Funny story, my brother was an intern in college that year and whatever money he made, which was like a couple of grand, he was gonna bet on GB. We all thought GB was money and it was like stealing free money.

He goes to place the bet and his guy doesn't answer the phone. He couldn't get the bet in on time. We were all so mad bc we felt like we lost out on some easy money.

So then we root for the Broncos so we don't feel bad about it. And then they win!

Sorry.

PoopSandwich 11-26-2013 11:47 AM

I don't think I ever actually root for the team that wins the Super Bowl (unless they're the heavy underdog situation where everyone is rooting for them and they end up winning).

It sucks.

It's like your Cleveland karma just infects the other team you root for too.

WCH 11-26-2013 11:49 AM

I watch that Packers/Patriots game every 5 years or so, just for the sake of nostalgia, and it was a better game than people remember. Parcells had coached up a very good Pats team and Bledsoe was a very good young QB.
