EJ Gaines: Best CB Draft

Yeah I said it, he'll be a first rounder when it's all said and done. a monster in man coverage. What do you guys think?

Dennard is the #1 corner for me, but I can see Gaines being #2 among seniors.

To be honest, I'm not sure he's even the best corner on his own team.

Roby is still my #1. But I could see Gaines going in the first though.

Sucks that Gaines doesn't really have any tape out there. People need to cut up his film from this year, he's been great.

I gotchu.

He's not an elite athlete but he's very Revisy in his movements. Has been a high quality CB for the last 3 seasons.

Ifo Expre-Olomu is by far the #1 corner in this class. His ability to turn his head around and locate the ball for pass breakups and INTs is a rare and special trait. Not only do I think he's the best corner, but, depending on how well he runs, he might be the best defensive player in this draft, which means he might be the best overall player in this class.

My only quibble with him is lack of a back peddle. He might be my favorite corner since Brandon Flowers.

Nice combination of size and speed for a corner but he's terrible in coverage. Was lost against Jared Abrederis.

He's not terrible in coverage, but he was in that game. Even then he mostly kept up with Abbredaris but his awareness was lacking severely. Hes been strong in the 2nd half of the season.

I personally think Justin Gilbert might be the best CB in the draft. Love his size, speed and playmaking ability. He's had a great senior season. I'm interested in seeing how he's going to do against Dorial Green-Beckham in their bowl game.

This is kinda turning into a generic top CB thread, so ill comment on Roby.

I'm actually shocked by the love. He has great speed, but makes a ton of mistakes. I worry that he doesn't have the mental side of things down. Or it could be a symptom of just how ****** his coaching has been. Dunno, he's had some bad games (not just bad plays, but bad games where he has blown his man coverage or made poor tackle attempts, etc. )

He's a 2nd or 3rd rounder due to too many question marks in my eyes.

Gilbert has the athleticism and ball skills to be great but his footwork out of the back pedal is so sloppy. To this point he is able to get away with poor technique but that won't be the case on the next level. I actually think he is a prime candidate to move to FS.

Gaines was clearly the best defender for Mizzou on Saturday. Wondering if he was the only defender on the field!

jayceheathman 12-13-2013 07:20 PM

I'm a Verrett fan the most so far.

nepg 12-13-2013 07:23 PM

I agree that Gaines is the best. He's physical, smart, and can do it all at a high level.
