Ohio State Rookie Linebackers
Dont get me wrong Aj Hawk is and will be a solid linebacker but something tells me that Bobby C is just going to be better. I think the few years he has with parcells will teach him good and i just see him going on to be one of the best linebackers each year he is in the league.

Schlegel

If carpenter was expected to be better then he would have been picked b4 hawk.

I don't think any linebacker in the league can say they are better than AJ in a couple years. Carpenter is good, but he never was/will be what Hawk is
|
I'll take Aaron James over Robert.

Carpenter>>>>>Hawk.
Carpenter is going to be so good in Dallas opposite Ware. Hawk will just be very average in Green Bay. Carpenter overall is such a better player. |
Hawk. You can call me a homer, but I wanted GB to draft Hawk back in October, so it'd be a chicken or egg type argument.

I'm waiting for toonster to substantiate this rumour.

You know, just because a player is taken later doesn't mean all NFL teams thought less of them. For example, the Raiders supposedly had Andrew Walter as the #1 QB on their board, but they took him in the third round. Why? Because other NFL teams thought differently, so the Raiders knew that they could get him there and not substantially reach on him.
This is an example of rounds, but it's true all throughout. |
I think all 3 will be studs. Ive said since the day the Jets got him, theyre gonna LOVE Anthony Schiegel. He is gonna be a beast in the 3-4. He was built for it. He will devour the run, he's basically a stand up DT.
AJ Hawk is gonna be a beast in GB. I think they should make him their MIKE, where he will have more of an impact in a 4-3 scheme, but as it stands hes a WILL I believe. He will have a solid career, I see him being a special player if he ever switches over to MIKE. But the best out of the 3 imo is Bobby Carpenter. He can rush the passesr, stuff the run, cover TEs, line up at DE...he can do it all, and he can do it all at a high level. People don't realize, it was bc of Bobby Carpenters coverage/pass rushing skills that allowed Hawk to ballhawk the way he did. Carpenter never got the credit he deserved in Ohio. He can blitz better than hawk, his coverage skills are equal, his run stuffing ability is near equal, and he's much more versatile. That makes him a better player imo. And at the end of the day, his ability not only to cover well/stuff the run but also to rush the passer makes him a more valuable player. They'll both be great players, but Carpenter will be better. And I find it funny how people use the argument that Hawk is better because he was drafted first. Thats real weak. So I guess Phil Simms was better than Montana bc he got drafted first? Or all the qbs picked ahead of Brady were better bc they were drafted first? Seriously, thats a weak argument. |
AJ easily. he'll be a dominant LB for years to come. i say he gets DROY.

If Clinton Portis was better he would have been drafted before William Green. |
Carpenter is just much more of a 3-4 guy than Hawk and his value is in the system.
|
I'd say its Hawk. After all, he did just marry Scott's future-sister-in law
|
Don't get me wrong, I would love for Bobby to be the man for my Boys, but if Hawk doesn't turn out to be a top 3 LB in this league then my faith in scouting and pro personnel people will be permanently shot. This guy had more hype coming out of college than any other LB that I can remember with the possible exception of LaVar. He certainly should win this one.
That said, I had to represent my boy Bobby. I am excited about his future, but a little disturbed that he wasn't projected as a solid mid-first guy. I hope you guys are right. |
Carpenter>Jason Allen.
|
i think bolth will be great. but i gotta give the nod to hawk especially with his freakish work ethic and feel for the game.
