To thwart this particular scam, the government is changing the $5 watermark from one of Civil War President Abraham Lincoln to two separate watermarks featuring the numeral 5. The $100 bill has a watermark with the image of Benjamin Franklin.
The security thread embedded in the $5 bill also has been moved to a different location than the one embedded in the $100 bill.
“We wanted this redesigned bill to scream, 'I am a five. I am a five,'" Larry Felix, director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, said in an interview with The Associated Press. “We wanted to eliminate any similarity or confusion on the part of the public between the $5 bill and the $100 bill.”

Positive review from me. Especially with their intent. I would think that would be a humongous pain in the neck to counterfeit.

i loved that, how can people confuse a 5 for a 100 i found that both shocking and hillarious that it is an actually problem that the government had to address.

If you read the entire thing, you'll realize that it's not a matter of people passing off 5's as 100's. It's the similar foundation that the bills share that makes it easy for counterfeiters to make Abe dishonest.

I would just bleach the bills to take out the color and then print the 100 dollar one on the 5.
I mean they*
