College Gameday Thread Week 6
Games from today until Sunday. Craziness.
Kentucky/USC is a huge match up Thursday night. I think Kentucky wins it fairly convincingly.
Red River Shootout too, unless the loss to K State woke up a monster I think OU takes it easily.

Shocked that Memphis is still playing tonight after one of their players was killed yesterday.

If Maurice Purify even plays. His status for the game is up in the air after his longtime girlfriend died yesterday from injuries she suffered in a car crash Saturday.
I'm gonna be surprised in Mo plays, honestly. In the past two months he has went through legal problems, his brother being shot and killed in a carjacking and now the death of his girlfriend. Really sad for that boy. :(

Wow thats really rough. Not much else you can say to that. Really, you can only hope that the kid can find refuge on the football field from the bad things that are going on around him. Having some distractions, like a commitment to a football team, at times like these can really help people going through difficult times, just a way to get your mind off your problems for awhile and clear your head. Having team mates to rally around him can be a positive thing as well.

I'm an SC fan but, I have to disagree. I love our RBs in this game against Kentucky's shotty run defense. Woodson vs. our secondary is going to be very interesting, though. We have the # 1 pass defense in the nation, Captain and Carlos Thomas have been fantastic this year. I favor SC in this one.

I'll take USC by 10+ over Kentucky. Their pass defense is FAR better than anything Kentucky has faced so far. As M.O.T.H. alraedy mentioned, I expect USC to run the ball all day against Kentucky. 30-17

I love Woodson though. He reminds me of VY in the intangibles category. You never know with him.

It's sad because here in South Carolina, we know which one we're talking about when we say USC or Carolina....but in any other state if you say USC they think you're talking about Southern Cal, and if you say Carolina, they think you mean the Tarheels.
But to say South Carolina or Theuniversityofsouthcarolina is too much to say if you're gonna repeat it that much so we're in a pickle. Talking to friends, neighbors I just say USC or Carolina or the Gamecocks. On message boards I gotta type the whole friggin' thing out

Well, Purify did practice today, so he has not headed back to California for the funeral. Status is still up in the air for the game, though.

Rafael Little is going to be the key to the Carolina/Kentucky game, I think. USC has a good secondary, but they've had some trouble stopping the run. And for all we know, the run defense inflates the ranking of the pass defense because everyone runs on them.
Its definitely an interesting matchup. I think it'll come down to the 4th, and I'm not ready to take a pick yet, haha.

I don't really think so, I'm a big UK fan but our other running backs (Tony Dixon and Alfonso Smith) and even our 4th stringer Derrick Locke who is a track star has come in and earned PT as a very explosive running back. I expect Kentucky to win this game due to some defensive plays and their very balanced offense. Even if Andre' Woodson is unable to throw the ball well(is this even possible?) we should be able to run it up their throats.

Well obviously it is going to be Little who will get the most carries.

Totally forgot about the Marshall/Memphis game. >_<
I really like Morris. He puts some good zip on the ball.

Kentucky might beat Carolina, but it won't be a blowout win, especially in Columbia. Our pass defense here at USC is too good and the rushing offense is very adequate, which happens to be UK's HUGE weakness. I think the Wildcats win via Little running the ball on an outmanned SC rushing defense and an efficient game from Woodson though.
