Justin Smiley traded to Jags
pretty small trade, but still surprising Miami at least got something for him:
Quote:
The Dolphins have traded OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars in exchange for an undisclosed late-round pick, pending a physical.
The Dolphins planned to release Smiley if they couldn't trade him by May 28, so we suspect they only received a seventh-round pick. Smiley's physical is key, as reports have suggested his oft-surgically repaired shoulder is hanging by a thread. If healthy, though, the 28-year-old is still an asset. Smiley's addition would likely seal Brad Meester's fate in Jacksonville.

Smiley was very good before he wrecked his shoulder from what I remember.

he still has to pass a physical. if he does i'll be happy we got something for him. If fully healthy, he easily becomes a starter for them over Nwaneri. Was undoubtedly our best OG when he was healthy, too bad he never could stay healthy. I wish him the best of luck though, i always liked him.

If he passes the physical, Nwaneri slides to C and Meester is likely cut. They've been cross-training Nwaneri at C for a couple years now, and Meester has really slowed down. He was downright awful at times last year, and he's been very injury prone.

Can't say I'm shocked they have been trying to move him for awhile.

Smiley was always a favorite of mine to take from rounds 18-20 to start at guard for me in Madden fantasy drafts.

Surprised a team was willing to give up anything for him and take on his contract. Hate to see a good, classy player like Smiley to get hammered down with his shoulder just about every year.

Poor Smiley. He was a 1st team All American at Bama at OG, then was drafted early by the 9ers when they were as bad as they ever were so he got pummeled his rookie yr. by huge NTs & DTs.
His got better but he shoulder damage was done, wanted to finish his career at home in the South -- he went FA to the Fins his 3rd yr, now his career is all but done.

You can't spell championship without several of the same letters present in Smiley.

So, you can't spell championship without the S, M, and I. Did you come up with that all by yourself?
