People can get seriously injured just as easily in the 1st 2nd or 3rd regular season games. Pre Season or that early in the regular season is still too early to go down no matter how you look at it so just leave the pre season alone.

i think shortening the preseason would help. it's terrible when a player goes down in a meaningless game and it has an effect on how the team does.

It's fine.
And it's erroneous to say that coaches know who they want by the second game. The third-stringer make their money in the late preseason games.

I think 4 is fine. If you are worried about your stars getting hurt, don't play them. Its as simple as that.

It should be two games. Cut down on the meaning deficient, boring, drama free pre-season and get to the meat of the season.

Of course but injuries are expected to happen during the regular season, those games actually mean something though, preseason don't, which is why we only need two preseason games. I would love to see the schedule elongated to 18 games though.

2 games, leave the season the same length though. I think it would be fine, maybe have the Super Bowl at the end of January again?

You need 4 games for fringe player tryouts. Two games is not enough to get a good look at the guys competing for the last few roster spots AND get your starters' rust shaken off.

make it three. the fourth game is absolutely worthless. leave the 1st and 2nd for the backups to fight it out, the third for starter warm-up, then get to the season.
the ONLY reason there's 4 right now is to put more money in the owner's pockets. don't delude yourselves into thinking coaches couldn't straighten out their rosters in a shorter amount of time.

It's fine how it is. In all honesty, teams do scrimmages and stuff anyways. The only reason people dont like the preseason is because of the injuries, but it isnt really any different than a scrimmage only that it's "official" and more recognized. Bills and Browns scrimmage every year and its never a preseason game, people dont complain about that.

By the 2nd game the coaches already know who are making the roster, and I don't like seeing injuries happen when they shouldn't.
