This isn't the first time an athlete didn't know something about his or her sport.
The amount of baseball players that know what BABIP stands for is probably minuscule.

Since they are so focused on playing the game they don't worry about stuff like that.

Exactly. Catch ball, throw ball, tackle guy with ball, etc. They don't want to complicate things do they? :)

If I were an Eagles fan, I'd be upset. That said, they tied with the Bengals so they have plenty to be mad about already.

Nothing screams winner like not leading your team to the playoffs for four consecutive years.

Im not trying to make any political connotations or raise any type of political debate but it just seems that when he makes comments such as this or his earlier comments about voting it provides insight into his awareness and recognition of his surroundings and possible reasons why hes had issues with the media as well as on the field.

Watching post game interviews most of the players didn't know it would end in a tie, they all thought there were at least 2 OTs. That's why they were celebrating when the bengals missed the FG.

That's pretty damn sad. That's your business and livelyhood and they you don't know the rules to your sport you play. Not to mention, they have had to have known this. Remember come playoff time scenerio, we hear scenerios like if a team wins OR Ties. Don't they read or hear that? The leader of the team, the franchise QB, doesn't know that there is a tie and that's very sad.

Still, you have to know what happens at the end of overtime if nobody scores. If you don't know what happens, ask somebody. I'm sure he would have been a bit more concerned if he knew what happens. This hurts the Eagles playoff chances

And shouldn't maybe some coaches have mentioned it, if it seemed like the majority of the players were unaware that once the OT period ended, that was all?

Clearly that's the coaches responsibility.
And andy reid didn't realize it either.
Shame

Yeah they should too. But I am guessing at that point they would have assumed players would know. This isn't like some obscure rule. Hell, read the paper come playoff time, they have all the scenerios in there. Usually it says WIn or tie.. What did they think the tie meant? If you win you're in, if you wear a suit and necktie you're in?
