I don't even know what to say to this. Any football fan knows that you can tie how the hell can a player not know. It's his job for christ sake. He's been playing in the NFL for 10 years and doesn't know you can tie? That's ******* ridiculous. I don't care if you're a rookie who's been playing college rules for the last 4 years, it's inexcusable not to know that.

If their not in practice, in a meeting, watching film or playing the actually game. It would surprise you how little they think about football.

You have to be an idiot if you play in the NFL and don't know that there can be a tie. There are no excuses for this. That's as bad as a cashier not knowing that you can use 5 pennies if you don't have a nickel.

I am not saying it is acceptable but I am not surprised. I have a feeling that there are a good amount of players who don't know that.

i do think its bad that he didnt know that was the rule.
Although i do believe that they should take the tie out. i think that they should play until someone wins....no one wants to see a tie!

People care about stats too much for that.

I do think ties are a waste of time. Either play a whole new quarter, or keep playing until someone scores.

I think NFL players are more ignorant when it comes to the rules than people realize.
Still, for McNabb not to know that a tie was possible is inexcusable.

I don't remember Atl playing Philly that year, maybe somebody can correct me but I don't believe so.
Matter of fact here is the Eagles schedule after that game:

He must have been mocking the rule. I think he was trying to be sarcastic, but it just came across as if he was truly serious. A little satirical on his part. But shame on him if he honestly didn't know the rule.

After regulation and before the coin toss for OT, doesn't the head ref explain the rules and state that only one 15 minute OT is going to be played?

Roethlisberger said something akin to...
"At least 50% of the league didn't know that"

Yeah and Golic I think or the other football guy who used to play, I think maybe MIke from mike and mike, said he didn't believe it was that much. That Ben was just defending McNabb.

Wouldn't surprise me, despite what some people have said in this thread, *cough*Geo*cough*, McNabb isn't won of the dumbest players in the NFL. There are players who are far dumber.

Yeah, it's nice to see players come to defend each other.

McNabb does some weird things though.. Puking on the field, in the superbowl taking his time, saying this, and not lining up UNDER CENTER, but behind his guard, lol. Makes you wonder about him. Not saying that as a rival fan, because I respect his talent, but he certainly doesn't strike me as anywhere near smart.

Yeah the lining up behind the guard thing doesn't really help his case lol. The puking thing doesn't have to do with his intelligence though.

Haha true, but I am just saying he does some weird things, so perhaps this falls in line with it. But yeah lining up behind guard doesn't help his case either, lol.
