Default Unbelievable . . .

Selvin Young, and PJ Pope to IR, makes that a total of 7 RB's on the IR for the Broncos this year.

he Broncos have lost two more running backs to injuries.

P.J. Pope tore a hamstring, and Selvin Young ruptured a disc in his neck. Both players have been placed on injured reserve. The Broncos now have a remarkable seven tailbacks on injured reserve.

Denver is expected to bolster its depth at tailback by activating Cory Boyd off the practice squad and signing Alex Haynes, who was waived by the Broncos on Nov. 22.

Pope became the sixth tailback to start in the Broncos' battered backfield Sunday against Buffalo but went to the sideline in the first quarter with a torn left hamstring. He finished with six carries for 44 yards. He's expected to be out six to eight weeks.

Young picked up the slack for Pope before leaving with a pinched nerve in his neck late in the third quarter.

An MRI on Monday revealed Young had a ruptured disc.

"Hopefully the disc will go back into position where he won't have an operation," Shanahan said.

The injuries to Pope and Young on Sunday left Tatum Bell as the only healthy running back. Bell carried the ball five times for 20 yards.

That's just insane. I can't remember any team being this injury-striken at one position.

Did enough frustrated fantasy football owners over the years cast a black magic curse on Shanny? Because it worked this year, what the heck.

That is just insane.

It's a good thing that the Broncos have been amazingly consistent with blocking for years. Hopefully you won't be too handicapped for this game against the Chargers.

Does anybody else think all these injuries reflect poorly on our strength and conditioning staff? I know injuries happen, but not this many at one position in one season. Maybe the offseason training program is too lax, or these guys aren't warming up enough before games. Either way, I just think there is too much causal indication for them to be merely coincidental.
