Drew Brees becomes 2nd player to pass for 5,000+ yards
Congratulations to him.

I wanted him to beat the record so bad. He's such a great guy. Congrats to him for over 5000 though

Yeah that's too bad he didn't. 16 Yards short.

He had Lance Moore wide the **** open on the last play. He threw it right past him.

I wanted Brees to break it, if only so that Dan Marino can continue to be replaced in the record books. I've always hated Marino, that prick thankfully never won a ring and if he loses his records too that's even better.
Congrats to Drew Breezy for getting 5K anyways.

Damn why so much hate on Marino? But anyways, Congrats to Brees, I really wanted him to break the record as well.

Congrats to a special player, and first class citizen. The last 2 Touchdown drives were just clutch throws, after throws even with the Panthers Defense 100% sure we were going to do nothing but pass. So sad the Defense blew the game in the final 2 minutes.. but what else could I expect. I guarantee you Drew is more ticked at losing this game, rather than not surpassing Marino's record.
Hopefully we can get some kind of a Running game, or Defense to help him out some time soon.

Brees needed 16 yards on that final play.

I was so pissed to see him barely miss the record, had Carolina not muffed that last punt he would of had it easily.

Marino is my favorite player of all-time, so I'm glad Brees didn't break it, but he has had a great season and it's great he is #2.

I'm glad he got 5000 but not the record. It seems right IMO. Marino's season was far, far better and he had far less favourable circumstances for accumulating raw yardage, namely he didn't have meaningless games at the end of the season solely aimed at racking up yards in. I hope his record stays for a very long time still.

I think that it speaks volumes about his talent and his competitive flair that he went for the win with a deep ball, rather than the record and a sure loss with a checkdown for the record.

Yeah, but I wanted the record. If it weren't for the worst Defense in the NFL, Brees would have it.

A bad D can sometimes aid passing offenses. While a good one may get the ball back to the QB quicker, and would have given Brees the ball back in this game with enough time to break it, throughout the course of a season a bad D will allows scores and force the offense back into passing mode, which could have allowed Brees coming this close in the first place. Good defenses are coupled with ball control offense usually, and you won't get 5000y with that (unless you're Marino :P).

I love you, Drew Breesus.

I was hoping he would make a miracle throw at the end of the game. That would have been an awesome way to break the record.

Ahhh Screw him... 8-8 doesn't deserve to break Marino's record. You garbage time yardage peeee-rick.
I don't hate Brees but I don't like the fact that people wanted him to break a record Marino did during an undefeated season while he was on a mediocre Saints squad.

Yeah, Marino was not on the undefeated Dolphins team.

Yeah it was the Superbowl team. My mistake. Still it was on a huge season for him. Not slipping in the backdoor to an 8-8 record.
