Mike Shanahan fired
Wow! Didn't see it coming this year.

The blockbuster of the coaching season just came in: The Denver Broncos fired Mike Shanahan.
Shanahan had three years and upwards of $20 million remaining on his contract

I think he automatically becomes the best HC candidate out there.

Gonna be weird to see someone other than Shanahan roaming the Denver sidelines.
I wonder if Detroit makes a run at him.

Good move- he just flatout wasn't doing his job.
I dont think fans of any team but the Broncos realize the significance of this move. Schefter and Terrell are making this out to be a poor move. TD claimed this was a coach who was consistent and irreplaceable. Sure, consistent in a sense that he has consistently missed the playoffs in the last decade without Elway, has won 1 playoff game, and has been the leagues worst drafting headcoach.
Before everyone starts questioning this move, just know 80% of the supposed "restless" Denver fan base knows that this is the right move for the team, he isn't the coaching god he was 10 years ago.

as chris said perfectly on irc:
he has worn out his welcome in denver, but any other team would be lucky to have him. I wholeheartedly agree and wish the bills had canned juaron because shanny is a guy maybe we could have made a run at.

Wow, I did not see this happening at all. Poor Shanny. Come run our offense in Pittsburgh Mike, you know you want too.

Agreed, Shanahan is HC or nothing. He can take a year or two off.
Returning to San Fran might have been great for him, except they're now ready to roll with McCloughan (meh) and Singletary (okay).

I think he would be a perfect fit there, some of their pieces on offense fit his scheme perfectly.

Whereever Shanahan eventually goes next, if he can get a good GM to get him the players he wants (like say Bill Polian does for Tony Dungy), and a good defensive coordinator to handle that side of the ball, he could be really good again.

I can't stand the guy being a Chiefs fan but I do respect him that being said I agree with the move he has just been there to long and it is time for change.

Every Coach has flaws also I just went through 3 seasons of Mangini who had all these imaginative blitzes but at the end it didn't matter because we didn't have great players.
