Right, they score on the first possesion and the other team has no option to try and match.

Usually an overtime game means that it is very close and each team has made plays and the game has gone back and forth. Why short one team like that, sure the defense should stop them, but playing first is a huge advantage, especially with a field goal, they only need to go about 50 yards for a good kicker.

If the Colts won the toss than won the game in OT this would be a non-issue.

That stat is actually 30% though so Kirwan is either talking about overall wins or he is just ill-informed.
