Saints set to tag DE Charles Grant
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2771560
I know that Grant does not wish to be tagged but it looked like contract negotiations have stalled.

The value of the franchise marker for a defensive end, which basically represents a one-year qualifying offer, is $8.66 million.
|
It's a lot of money to pay him if we can't sign to a long-term deal. He is an important part of our defense though.

Yup, I was hoping they'd get something long term worked out there's still time but it's looking more and more like he's going to get tagged.

Now to see if Atlanta does likewise, regarding Patrick Kerney. If so, then Dewayne White is the top FA Defensive End.

hopefully the ravens don't tag AD, so maybe he can come to the Saints althought I would rather have Clements if I were to choose between the two.

I don't want to see the Saints shell out the money it would take for them to bring a player like Adalius Thomas to The Big Easy.

If they have the cap room, then it's a worthy move.

It's a smart move for us. He's essential to our defense and makes up half of one of the better d-line's in the league. Now, I'm hoping we get a long-term deal worked out fairly soon. At worst, if we do lose him... we'll get compensated for it.

Kearney will be the best UFA defensive end, and probably will wind up in either Denver or St.Louis
