Troy Smith?
I was just wondering if you guys heard anything about possibly trading him or him wanting to be traded or anything of that sort.

I think he can earn a starting job elsewhere. I wouldnt mind if my jets gave you guys a fourth or fifth round pick for him. Hes got plenty of talent and just hasnt really gotten the chance to prove himself.

If we trade him we are left w/o a back-up QB and we also lose the threat of our own wildcat packages. I think we will keep him, and I would be opposed to any trade of him.

I don't see him getting traded but I do think he's gone once his contract's done.

Next year will be his final year, he's on a 3 year deal, pretty typical for a second day pick.

Then he becomes restricted and we will retain his rights no doubt, so if he leaves after next year we'll still get somethin for him.

I could see us trading him to a Team like KC or maybe Carolina that may or may not draft a QB this year. He has the talent but he is an X factor almost like Matt Cassell. I think we trade him now while he still has value. Maybe we can get a vet to be the backup for Flacco much like Kurt Warner was signed in Arizona.. maybe we can sign Jon Kitna or even Boller to come back as the back up and then draft someone late in the 6th or 7th like JP Wilson from Alabama or Teel from Rutgers.. someone that has a tradition of winning and comes from a larger program...

If we trade Troy then we should take a late rd flyer on Pat White as a WR/returner and then we'd have him to run our wildcat with!

That's a good idea, IMO he would be much better running the wildcat than Troy is.

I'd take Pat regardless...I think he can be Randle El esque.

He has been a winner at every level and is athletic as hell !! That would be some speed we could really use on offense..

Eh we shouldn't trade him. His value to us is more than what we'd get. I trust him fully as a backup. Maybe Flacco gets hurt for 5 games and Troy steps in a does well and we end up getting a 3rd rounder for him.

Good Point.. but it could go the other way as well and we get nothing for him..while we have a need to get younger in other spots and add depth and talent I think we should focus our strength, which is the draft, and stockpile picks so we can try and add another gem into the fold..
