I'm sorry Raider fans. But when he plays on a team where he is the only one doing the work he can't do a whole lot. :(

Actually, i'd disagree with you. They get a ton of coaching under that staff because Mack hardly lets underclassmen play.
I have always been an open critic of this strategy, as it never lets them fully develop that in game experience that sometimes stalls their production. I think Huff's problem in Oakland has to be all mental, because there is nothing the kid can't do. He's as athletically gifted as anyone, and he was never scared to throw his hat into a pile in College, wonder what's wrong now.
I wouldn't put too much on people going to fail in Oakland.

I should have phrased it differently. It seems more likely with top picks.

It's not that bad now but I think back in like the Chris Simms-era it was more prevalent.

Does anyone else see the connection with Cromartie's bad year and Shawn Merrimen not being on the field rushing passers?

Take anything this guy says about the University of Texas (not TU) with a big fat grain of salt. Let me ask you Brent, who's this year's Arkansas State?

Completely. With Merriman in there that defense gets a completely different level of pressure which let's cro play the ball and not get burned too often, with that pass rush dropping cro got exposed by the extra time and thus he struggled.

Uuuuuuugh Jason Allen. His mom/brother/agent getting owned by that doctor from Vanderbilt was amazing. Almost as amazing as Allen giving up 200 yards by himself against the patriots this year.

That.
The hip fracture he played with most of the year probably didn't help either.

that's not to say that huff hasn't just lost whatever he had coming out, and that's not to say that, in general, picking up other team's garbage in free agency is a great strategy.
but when you've really only put out a handful of great players over almost a decade, it makes one wonder if it's the environment or the player.
|
Look at guys like Stuart Schweigert, Tyler Brayton, and others who were so happy to get out of Oakland. None of them have really stuck with a team in a pivotal role except Moss. Renaldo Hill is serviceable with Miami, just like he was with Oakland. Sims is a backup RT in SF, Schweigert is looking for work, Dom Rhodes is backing up Addai's backup, and Brayton is just as effective in Caroline as he was in Oakland.

Probably had something to do with it. The bigger problem was that he was so friggen overrated after last year because of his interceptions. His coverage was never that good.

Bernard Pollard is only getting better each year and Jarrad Page has been very solid for a 7th round pick. Not bad for KC, but I think DaJuan Morgan will end up starting next year.

Add Miami to this list... I would love to give Huff another shot in Miami, and I hope Parcells agrees with me.

Oi! I remember, because I think that was the year of a million Forum Mocks and regardless of what happened; Allen was going to be on his team.
I think he was a Fins fan. I vaguely remember DG trying to talk sense that Yeremiah Bell was better, or something along those lines.
Blast-ended Skrewts, I wish I could remember......
