I'm debating in my mind whether I like Godfather Part I or II more...they were both on yesterday on AMC and it's got me thinking...I originally thought Part I was better, but Part II is more emotionally appealing to me than Part I, what with the family strife and the rise of De Niro's Vito.
Part II has always been my favorite. Deniro stalking across the rooftop and assassinating Fanucci maybe one of the coolest scenes ever.

I love DeNiro in Part II but personally I got to go with Part I. Obviously Marlon Brando was amazing but I thought the development of Michael was so interesting. I think I just enjoyed the plot in the first one more aswell. The 2nd was still a great movie but nothing can beat Part 1.
God I love Not Another Teen Movie...there is nothing on right now so, I've been watching it for like the 200th time on comedy central and I just love it. It's so quotable. Excellent, excellent spoof movie. One of the very few good spoof movies of the 2000's and imo, the best.

The reason I'm mulling over Part II is because I like Michael's character in it more than in Part I, and he's my favorite character in the series. Part I starts Michael onto what he becomes in Part II. But I agree with you about the plot - I think it's better in Part I.

I guess that i have no argument for all of the TWBB lovers out there.
CCByrdGang said it best, movies, and all entertainment for that matter, are subjective. Not everyone is going to agree.
With that being said, while i agree that the movie looked nice and there were some cool/interesting shots, i just couldn't care about any of the characters
or the development of the plot.
I understand that it is a story about the man and his life, but it just didn't seem to progress in my opinion... i ended up not caring about what happened to Plainview or the preacher or anyone else for that matter.
As for the person who said that you had to appreciate American History to fully appreciate the movie.... uh, American History Teacher talking here...
And for the record, while i have never made a movie, or studied film, etc. I do not consider myself to fall into the "general movie going public". I believe that i have pretty decent standards when it comes to movies.... I would never see Mall Cop; not even to laugh at how bad it is.
So, in the end, feel free to love any movie as much as you like... just don't belittle people when they disagree with you. It makes you kind of sound like pretentious jerks.
At least that's the way that it sounded to me, but then again, reading people's posts on an internet forum is subjective. :)
I can agree with you here. I fell in love with the characters and always felt invested in what happened next and you did not which is fine. Film is subjective so I can't expect everyone to love every movie I love. I am used to recomending movies to family members and have them tell me later how much they hated the movie I told them to see. I just enjoy insulting the general movie going public as much as possible because I understand I am a pretentious jerk like that.
and btw, TWBB was frakking great. Why does everything have to be the same, with clean cut story structure that progresses from beginning, middle to end, then we are spoon fed a clean cut ending. **** that noise!

A little love for David Lynch is always a good thing. I credit Lynch's Inland Empire for boosting my mark in Pop Culture after I was brought the movie up in a Seminar one day and talked to my T.A. about the movie and Lynch for a good 15 minutes after class one day. After that he marked all of my last minute written assignments way higher than he should have. He is such a ******* brilliant director and he has succeeded in continuing to make movies that **** with my mind.

David Lynch is awesome. My Film TA loves Inland Empire too. I personally love Eraserhead, but anything by Lynch is good if you can stand it. I know alot of people who HATE anything he does. definately a guy who isnt afraid to **** around with your head.

Agree. As far as spoof movies go its one of the very very rare good ones. Airplane!, Not Another Teen, & Don't Be a Menace are basically the only ones i've enjoyed.
I also watched this earlier today, maybe my favorite action movie.
As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, it's probably my favorite comedy of all-time. It's not the best movie with regards to production but Jim Carrey is so great in that movie that he needs zero help in carrying it. There are so many great lines, too. When Nature Calls is just nothing but pure genius.

Captain Oveur: You ever been in a cockpit before?
Joey: No sir, I've never been up in a plane before.
Captain Oveur: You ever seen a grown man naked?
Captain Oveur: Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison?
Joey: Wait a minute. I know you. You're Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Roger Murdock: I'm sorry son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot.
Joey: You are Kareem. I've seen you play. My dad's got season tickets.
Roger Murdock: I think you should go back to your seat now Joey. Right Clarence?
Captain Oveur: Nahhhhhh, he's not bothering anyone, let him stay here.
Roger Murdock: But just remember, my name is ROGER MURDOCK. I'm an airline pilot.
Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs.
Roger Murdock: The hell I don't. LISTEN KID. I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.
