Just applied at a local FasTrack. They said I'd be getting a call. Doubt it.
Question.. When filling out an application, I have no references. If we could include family I would have plenty, but you can't. I'm not friends with adults, and I don't have any of my teachers, that like me, information.

You should join NAMBLA. I heard that's a great place to make adult friends

It varies from town to town but many accept seasonal help in the summer. I will be working my third year in the Forestry Division. I work 4 ten hour days which is nice but I get monday not Friday off. I drive around in a big chipper truck most of the day. If I didn't have to deal with my coworkers I would enjoy it a lot more.
Also, in previous years I got to work 50 hours a week for 10 hours overtime for the last month. It was good cash but you have to wake up early.

There are no jobs in my area at all. I seriously cannot find anything. I'm not complaining because it will boring stop-gap busy work anyway but, my car isnt go to pay for itself. I have applications out everywhere. Every grocery store in the area, Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, K-Mart, etc. I havent had a job in about two months. Only got one phone call back, a grocery store was offering me a job but, could only guarantee like 8 hours a week. umm no.

Why wouldn't you just take the 8 hours and keep searching? Better than nothing and it might turn into 30+ or whatever you wanted

Meh...I knew someone who worked there who has been only getting 12 hours max for months, despite asking for more time. I have money to tide me over until July as far as bills go. I didnt feel like wasting my time to be honest. At the time, I also had a 40 hour a week job but, it was temp deal and only lasted for a few weeks. So, I'd actually have to re-phrase my last post. I have had a job in the last two months but it wasnt a steady job and it ended abruptly because, they didnt need the help anymore. So, it's not like I had the time to even work those 8 hours but still, that isnt helping me at all.
I'm not worried, though...I will for sure find some beyond boring factory type job for $8 an hour in the next month. I'm sure. They're always in the paper. Same people jump from one to place to another with those types around here. Still sucks, though.

An idea (probably sucks)... Work as Mall security. My cousin did it, and in some aspects it kind of sucks (really can't do much), but you don't have to do much, except take a CPR course, if you aren't already certified. Most mall security can't do anything to stop things anyway, so you basically just end up walking around, getting free exercise while you work. all you do if there is a problem is write it down and report it. My cousin would joke and say his only weapon was his pen. You'll meet tons of people, especially women. Plus you get to play with walkie talkies:).

I doubt they have any openings...they normally take on criminal justice kids from my local community college. My buddy works there. I'd do it, I just know I would be so bored and constantly waiting for the moment where I could chase some dude down. haha.
gah. I have to get back to college. lol This sucks doing busy work for the moment. My car payments screw me over.

I would seriously reccomend applying as a greenskeep at any golf course. The sweetest Summer gig ever was working as a Greenskeep on one of the "nice" golf courses in my area. The only downside was starting at 6 am but you grow accustomed to it. All I did was rake the sandtraps on a little machine or mow, then change out about 5 water coolers, then look busy for the remaining 2-3 hours. It was the easiest fulltime job i have ever had. Not to mention tips, hot chicks at the pool/tennis courts/halfway house(they were EVERYWHERE) tokage on the job . . . wow there are so many perks i wish i could get that job back. Now I make pizza, its cool, i can smoke at work, but the best part is free food.

I work as a summer intern at PHH Mortgage. Worked there last year so they hired me back. It's a lot of tideous busy work but you get used to it. A lot of my friends work there cause my mom got them jobs as well. It's not bad, own computer and desk, and it pays well for 40 hours a week.
