Thanks for the awesome post TitanHope.

I see a lot more variables to the whole equation.

I think it will be interesting to see what the Titans do this offseason and next year.

No problemo RCA!

Also, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that CJ isn't gonna play in the Pro Bowl because of his ankle injury (He still goes down as a Pro Bowler tho!), but the good news is that Griffin is now goin after Ed Reed has dropped out cuz of his injury.

Kinda funny that CJ was hurt by Ed Reed (allegedly...), and now another Titans player gets to go Bowlin' cuz Reed bows out due to injury. :D

Awww man. I was thinking about getting a Britt jersey, but I hate when WRs wear numbers in the teens. I was hoping he'd go 88 or 86. Also, I don't like D-Linemen wearing numbers in the 70s so I guess I won't be getting a Sen'Derrick Marks jersey either.

Heya Mick! What'd ya think of the Draft?

Cool roster thoughts. I think Ringer could win the 3rd RB slot, and I don't know if Q makes the roster. I think we have Ahmard Hall as the starting FB, and if he gets injured, Bo Scaife becomes the emergency FB. So Ganther as the emergency FB won't warrant a spot. I think we carry 6 WR's because we need a ST's coverage WR. Paul Williams filled that role last year, but I think Dom Edison and Dudley Guice could fill it too. Guice may have a better shot at making the roster than most UDFA's would normally. I think we carry 3 OT's - Roos, Stewart, and Kropog. Kropog can swing inside too. Only OG's to carry are Scott and Amano. OC's are Mawae and Harris. Harris and Kropog backup OG. Harris backs up OC. Your defense looks good! But, McRath will play OLB for us. So I'd keep Fowler to backup Tulloch, and take out Stamer for McRath, who could play ST's.

Boy I'm excited!

Also, I think #18 is good for Britt - he just seems like a teens guy. Caught offguard by Sen'Derrick taking 72, but I don't mind it. It's cool that Cook took Wycheck's #89 when his collegiate #84 was available.

Rookie orientation is over. Here's Fisher's comments at the end of the last day:

Quote:

You know, we saw a lot of good things from a lot of players out here today. It’s interesting. You have a perception of what you expect them to look like on the first day based on all of the evaluations and things, and then, of course, when you get them out here in person, it’s always good to see. They did a good job. We slowed the pace down. Their minds are spinning right now because they’ve got a lot of information, but overall it’s a real good group.

(on the battle between Rutgers CB Jason McCourty and Britt)

Oh yeah. We try to end a drill on a good note. There’s no loser in that one. One of them is going to win. They know each other very well, as Kenny talked about a couple days ago, and they both have great respect for each other.

(on whether anyone tries too hard on the first day)

No, we told them just to relax and just to do the best they could. We don’t expect them to be in great shape right now; they’re not. We have to emphasize the orientation part. People say, ‘It’s a minicamp, it’s a …” Well, no, it’s more of an orientation. We’re just trying to get them accustomed to the way we’re doing things.

(on how much the individual coaching helps when just the rookies are together with the coaches)

If you look at the alternative, what a number of clubs do, is they bring all the vets and bring everybody together. They just get lost. So this way, we have a better chance of evaluating where they are in every area – in the weight room, flexibility, where they are mentally – and then we send them home for a couple weeks and allow them to get caught up. When they come back, hopefully they’ve closed that gap with the vets because right now they are no way anywhere close to being in the same shape that, quote, ‘varsity’ is right now. Because they’ve been working.

(on what the team saw in quarterback Alex Mortensen)

We talked around, and he’s just a real good camp arm, a guy that’s going to be reliable and that just wants an opportunity to play in a preseason game. We’re happy with the three quarterbacks, and we’re going to just send him all over the field. He’s just a football guy. He’s kind of a good locker room guy, and we think he’ll get done what we need to get done.

(on if signing Mortensen is a way to make sure no leaks get out)

Oh, yeah, yeah, there’s no question about that. I was kind of hoping Chris Berman had a son, but he’s just got all daughters (laughing).

(on the health of third-round pick Ryan Mouton)

Yeah, I mean, we’re evaluating him. I was pleased he was able to do what we asked of him. But we’re going to watch him. I think he’s probably a couple weeks away.

(on if they told Mouton to practice at 75 percent)

We told him to be smart. He’s smart enough to know that … Marcus (Robertson) worked him out, as we said, a week ago today, and so he’s even further along than he was a week ago. We’re optimistic that he’ll get back.

(on how difficult it is for the rookies to grasp the playbook)

Well, I think it’s incumbent on us to be smart and not to overload them. We’re giving them bits and pieces here and there, and you build. Most of them will take things with them. Once they come back, they’ll step into the OTAs, and then of course we have those rookie seven-on-sevens and the rookie team (periods), so we’ll get them caught up.

Here's an article by Teresa Walker on Britt's minicamp:

Quote:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jeff Fisher tried to give the Tennessee Titans' top draft pick a stiff challenge on the last play of a drill Friday, so he called for Rutgers versus Rutgers.

Kenny Britt, their first-round wide receiver, trotted out to the left end and lined up opposite his college teammate, cornerback Jason McCourty.

And McCourty lined up right on the line and pressed the receiver hard at the snap.

They ran to the back corner of the end zone where Britt leaped high and grabbed the ball.

And got only one foot inbound.

"There's no loser in that one," Fisher said of the play. "... They know each other very well, as Kenny talked about a couple days ago, and they both have great respect for each other."

Britt, the first receiver drafted by this franchise in the first round since Kevin Dyson in 1998 and only the third drafted that highly in the team's 50-year history, faces plenty of pressure to help a passing offense that averaged only 176.2 yards in 2008. The No. 30 pick overall -- Rutgers' first player ever drafted in the first round -- seems confident enough.

Asked if that catch was a statement, he said no.

"Just coming out and doing what Coach asked me to do and what he drafted me for," Britt said.

Wasn't he out?

"I believe I got both feet down. We also got to go to the replay, and I think the refs are going to agree with me," Britt said.

Fisher noted only one foot was in, a catch in the college ranks last year.

Some NFL teams may choose to bring their rookies in alongside their veterans for their first pro experience. Not the Titans. They brought in their 11-man draft class along with eight undrafted free agents for a rookie orientation that started Thursday night, featured two on-field sessions Friday, film work Friday night and concludes with a final field session Saturday.

"It's incumbent on us to be smart and not to overload them," Fisher said. "We're giving them bits and pieces here and there, and you build. Most of them will take things with them."

The rookies can return in late May and work with the veterans.

They got a glimpse of some veterans Friday.

Jared Cook, their third pick overall in the third round, got to meet veteran Alge Crumpler after watching the tight end play with the Atlanta Falcons earlier in his career.

All-American running back Javon Ringer met LenDale White when the veteran stuck his head into the meeting room.

Britt wore No. 18 instead of the 88 he had at Rutgers. He plans no negotiations with tight end Craig Stevens who currently has No. 88 because the receiver said he looks good with No. 18.

"The number doesn't make the player. The player makes the number," Britt said.

Cook showed off his athletic ability at 6-foot-5 with several nice leaping catches, making sure he got both hands on the ball and wearing the No. 89 worn by Frank Wycheck -- the tight end who led this franchise in catches for five straight seasons. Cook said he hopes Wycheck will come by and teach him a thing or two. He also wants to learn from Crumpler.

The Titans must figure out how they want to use Cook in an offense that was led in receptions by another tight end, Bo Scaife, last season.

"He's got real natural soft hands," Fisher said. "He adjusts very well, and I know one can make a case maybe he's a wide receiver, especially after what we saw today. He's got a lot of work. He's a very smart kid. He understands routes, runs them well. I think he'll be good for us."

The Titans' veterans hit the field Monday. Center Kevin Mawae, who had offseason surgery to repair a tendon in his right arm, likely won't be taking part as he recuperates.

Titans taking Mouton in the 3rd shocked the hell outta me. He's been great for Hawaii, but there was better talent on the board. What are you guys making out of it? I hope he lives up to all the organizations hopes for him.

It took us off guard too at first. The Titans FO had their eye on him as someone to take at the position, but on Friday, the day before the Draft, DB Coach Marcus Robertson worked him out. He timed Mouton in the 4.3's, and the hamstring injuries that hampered him in previous workouts had seemed to of disappaited. As Steph said, he'll be given a try at return duties, and will compete for playing time at CB. Finnegan, Nick Harper are the outside CB's, and FS/CB Vincent Fuller has carved a niche NB. So he'll compete with DeMarcus Faggins for the 4th CB spot, and be brought along slowly. We were hopin' for the hometown boy in DJ Moore, but they apparently preferred Mouton.

Mouton really is a fast cat. You should've seen his kick return for TD against Florida. Florida has some speedsters, but none could catch Mouton.

Nate Washington interview. Dude is QUICK!!! I think he'll definitely be an upgrade over McCariens and Jones. It's great to see them inject athleticism and explosiveness into the offense. It started with Chris Johnson, then went to Washington, and now has Britt and Cook. Gotta love it!

Here's Coach Fisher's veteran minicamp report: http://www.titansonline.com/news/art...9-4a501dbedd6b

I thought Cecil blitzing Dinger 4 out of 5 times during the first scrimmages was hilarious, lol! Anyway, lots of good stuff on things like the RB competition, defensive philosophy, and mood of the team.

Just listened to a Cortland Finnegan interview. They asked him how he likes the new D-Coordinator, and Finny said he likes him and his gutsy calls - like when he's called blitzes on 3rd and short.

:)

Vince Young reportedly wants to either play or he wants out:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4223108

This is not what he should be saying out in public, he should just go into the season competing as hard as he can for the position. This kind of reflects on his character, which worries me, but it also bothered me that Fisher went out and publicly stated their will be no competition and Collins is the starter. It is disappointing, cause I had so much hope for him. He succeeded his first year with lacklustrer numbers, and then failed badly his second season. I think he still should get a shot, but not by making statements like this
