DCFL Football League!!!
For those of you that haven't seen, there is another league starting up where you can make your own players, anything you want about them you can do! You can sign up and make a player in the thread in my sig.
There are a few coaching positions open as well, so if you are interested in making up a coach, you may do that as well. The league is located in the Fantasy section if you want to check it all out. PM me, scottyboy, or BeerBaron if you have any questions...

mickey loomis thinks we will have both chip vaughn and thomas morstead signed before training camp, doesnt think we'll have jenkins signed (and basicly I dont care, he isnt gonna start anyway in his first year)

4 year deals for both. I hope Vaughn becomes great. He can learn from Sharper.

Love hearing the reports out of camp about the aggressiveness the Defense has shown thus far. Seems like Greg Williams has changed the attitude of the Defense, they are going hard and hitting the Offensive players every chance they get in the contact drills even in the First two days of camp, he's making them go after every single loose ball, and forcing them to swarm to the ball carrier.
Now hopefully this translates when it matters in the regular season but I'm optimistic they are developing the physical habits needed to be a more tough, and aggressive Defense that pressures Offenses into mistakes.
Here's an article about the Defense frustrating some of the Offensive players early in camp. Link
Quote:
METAIRIE, La. -- The shift in persona of the New Orleans Saints -- considered more finesse and fun than anything close to intimidating in the past -- took place early during team drills Saturday. Tailback Reggie Bush took a handoff and ran off right tackle. He was then stood up by defensive end Charles Grant and taken down with the help of middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma.
The rough stuff didn't stop there, as defenders continued to swarm, pop and, more than not, physically have their way with the offense. That defenders were allowed to tackle players, especially so early in camp, is a rarity with any team. That New Orleans' defenders did so with such routine gusto is a sign that things could be different for a playoff-caliber team that has failed to get to the postseason the past two years because of its defensive shortcomings.
In the afternoon practice, it got to the point where the offense was so fed up with the defense's over exuberance that two fights broke out on one play after a defender tackled a running back when the team was not in full gear.
New defensive coordinator Greg Williams built his reputation as an aggressive play schemer and play caller but players said his biggest impact, thus far, has been changing the unit's mental approach.

Good article. The only point that had me getting frustrated was the fact that Jenkins hasn't signed yet. I am excited about how our defensive secondary seems to have improved.

I'm not really one to get too hyped over the off-season, but I feel really optimistic about this season. If everything comes together I see no reason why this can't be a 10,11 win team. I can't find any major weaknesses in their Off-season strategy given what they had to work with.. I would've liked for them to do a little more at the OLB spot, and add more depth at DT, but you can only do so much... and the Secondary additions should provide the upgrades we've missed the past few years in that area.
The Defense is the key and from every report I've seen Greg Williams is the man who can right the ship on that side of the ball. He's bringing an aggressive nature to the Defense; and it seems like the players are really buying into his approach. I'd like to see it on the field though.. interested especially in the snaps our 1st team Defense will take against the Bengals on Friday.

So i'm a little lost on the Grant and Smith situation. Are they suspended the first 4 games or not? And if that they are does that mean the 2 Williams are too?

The Saints have released DT Rod Coleman, CB Greg Fassitt, and WR D'Juan Woods.
We need DT help in the worst way.

I just want to make it to week one with a healthy team. We have lost alot of players. Anyone know how long Young is out for? And are the going to put Chip on IR?

Funny I was just thinking how a few weeks back I was really assured with the young talent at Safety, and now it seems like we're running thin on depth there.
I don't believe Usama Young's injury is too severe, a Shoulder sprain is what I heard... and it might be 2-3 weeks? I think we'll see Chip Vaughn shelved for the season on IR... to make room for either Prioleau, or Reis as Special team specialists; and Chip will be able to compete for a roster spot next season.

Ok bad news, it looks like Billy Miller tore his achilles and will be out for the season.. this is a blow because it takes away one of Brees' reliable targets. Even though he was a back-up Miller was dependable, and Brees often looked for him when there were no other options.
Our depth at TE is paper thin with Campbell on IR... This is makes it absolutely crucial that Shockey stay healthy, and in tune with this team all season long.

I wouldn't call the depth paper thin, but the talent surely is.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us claim a TE off waivers to take Millers place on the roster.

49ers just released Bear Pascoe, I'd love it if we picked him up.

I saw that you guys picked up Chase Daniel for the practice squad, or rumored to at least...that's cool.

We traded for David Thomas. I liked him a lot coming out of Texas, he looked like a decent receiver, and he's been a great blocker in NE.

I think he's going to be the perfect student for Payton and Brees to tutor.

I'm glad the Redskins released him and we picked him up. I was really surprised he went undrafted personally.

So was I. He reminds me a lot of Brees when he was coming out. He has very correctable mistakes and I think that he can turn into the perfect heir to the throne in N.O.
