Now they are reporting that as part of reworking his contract, Wade will become a free agent after this season.

The Vikings have got to keep T-Jax as a number 2 and Sage as a number 3. I'm pretty sure Favre won't play all the games this season. This means we need 2 quality backup with game experience. I have absolutely zero confidence in Booty and i haven't seen anything in preseason that makes me change my mind about it. We should try to slip him through waiver onto the practice squad. Even if it means someone does a Thigpen to us...
On a side note. Ian Johnson made a strong point to be kept on the roster as a third back. He looked good last night. Reynaud probably also won a roster spot last night with that return. Which means we would keep 6 WR on the roster.

So far our cuts are JDB, Ian Johnson and David Herron.
http://blogs.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=3284
Looks like T-Jack will stay with us throughout 09.

Only surprise for me on that list is Ian Johnson. I thought he would make the team. Let's hope we can sign him to the practice squad. He could replace Chester next year if he leaves through free agency.
I think the Vikings made the right choice with Booty.

you can add WR Nick Moore to that list.
EDIT: You can add WR Vinny Perreta as well
I'm glad they made the decision to keep T-Jack over Booty.

Also Cut:
DT Tremaine Johnson
OT Drew Radovich
CB Marcus McCauley--maybe signals Paymah will make the team.
9 more cuts left
The Star Tribune is reporting that Jon Cooper HAS made the team.

I have never been impressed with John David Booty, so I am ok with this cut.
If I had to choose between Ian Johnson and Albert Young, I would have took Johnson. Somebody will claim him for sure. I am sad to see McCauley get cut. Only because I was big on him when we drafted him. Im glad to see both Darius Reynaud and Jaymar Johnson make the team.
I so hoped Ryan Cook would make this list. I want that man to have nothing to do with this team. The Lions can have him.

Sad to see McCauley and Ian Johnson go. Johnson has looked so good in the preseason to me, just seems so much better than Young.
McCauley was so good in his rookie season, a pity he hasn't gone anywhere from there, still liked his potential though.

McCauley was the training camp champion his rookie year. I remember every report said he was locking guys down, sucks he never panned out. Booty never showed 1 ounce of improvement in his 2 years, he will most likely be picked up by some other team.
I love that we have dedicated a lot of roster space to special teams players because we were soooo bad there last year. With Paul Ferraro gone, Farwell back, and some really talented guys our ST should be much improved. All in all I think we have a pretty solid roster.

Not many cut surprises for me. I thought Garrett Mills would stick around as an H-back, but I guess not. Glad to see McCauley gone. He was trash.

I agree with FuzzyGopher. I am really excited to see that they put an emphasis on STs. I think that STs play is the main reason why Paymah made it over McCauley, and the only reason why Onatolu made the team. I would have liked to see Ian Johnson make the team, but it's not a huge loss. I thought there was a chance that Cook might be cut after his horrible preseason, but I never really expected it.

Cook does have some value in that he can play pretty much any position on the line.
Booty on the PS! There is still hope for Booty time!(Even though he sucks donkey ****) I like Radovich as well, hopefully he can continue to and develop become a backup someday.

Cook has value because he can play every position? Let me rephrase that..Cook has no value because he plays every position, and is a butcher at every one of them.

I didn't say he could play them well, just that he could play them. Check that, Cook can line up at any position on the offensive line.

Stephen Hawking could line up at any position on the offensive line, still doesn't make him in the least bit effective.
