St. Louis Rams sign WR Drew Bennett
Rams add Bennett to wide receiver core
By Jim Thomas
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
03/03/2007
The Rams added some size and production to their wide receiver core when free agent Drew Bennett of Tennessee agreed to terms on a six year contract, Saturday morning.
Contract terms weren't immediately available.
Bennett at 6 feet 5 inches, 206 pounds had forty-six catches for 737 yards last season.
Rams coach Scott Linehan said, the addition of Bennett gives the Rams a potent trio of wide receivers with a Bennett joining Pro Bowlers Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce.
Linehan said, "We feel great about it he gets down field, and he has sneaky speed for a tall guy."
With Kevin Curtis visiting Minnesota this weekend Linehan felt the Rams had to move quickly on Bennett or be caught shorthanded at receiver.
Free agent linebacker-defensive end Tully Banta-Cain of New England received a contract offer from the Rams during his visit but left without signing and apparently will make additional trips.

RAMS SIGN BENNETT
A league source tells us that the Rams have agreed to terms with receiver Drew Bennett.
We're told that the deal will average $4.5 million per year.
Bennett spent the first six years of his career with the Titans.

I like this a lot, but i guess it means no Ted Ginn, with the trade of hall would you still draft a D end liek 2nd or 3rd round?

This is a great pick up for the Rams. He will be the Ricky Prohel we have missed.

6 years for 30 Million $$$$
however, "Isaac Bruce is not expected to lose his starting job following the Rams' signing of Drew Bennett to a six-year, $30 million contract."

Maybe even first round depend on what the board looks like. Hall gives us a veteran pass rusher opposite Little, but both are in their 30s.

Come to think of it, depending on how things shake out, we could still draft Ginn. Let him be the 4th WR and learn from bruce and holt, while contributing on special teams, then taking over as the #3 when bruce retures giving us Holt Bennett Ginn
