Yout don't have to get out of the Midwest to better yourself. Minneapolis, for example, is one of the most progressive cities in the country.I Guess I could see it if you're talking about the rust belt, but there is plenty of opportunity in other areas of the midwest.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure I can even see a correlation with location as " bettering yourself" period. Improving yourself is more dependent upon yourself than where you live.

BTW what is your idea of " betting yourself"? Like financially?

Got my MCR t-shirt from Hot Topic and everything. The guy asked if I wanted to buy their new CD when he was ringing up the shirt, and I told him no, I'm really not that into the band. He just kinda looked up at me, and was like, "...but you're buying their shirt?" And I just kinda stood there, in my Abercrombie and Fitch short with "ABERCROMBIE" written across the back in big block letters, looked around awkwardly, and went, "Yep..." He finished ringing it up and didn't make eye contact for the rest of the transaction.

What was I gonna say? "No thanks, I'm just buying it so I can mock your style at a party?" ...Actually, come to think of it, I totally should've said that...

I consider North Jersey another suburb of New York so that discounts just about all of the mentioned :)

My part of NJ is right on the PA border. So we dont get any guidos around these parts. Just lots of scumbag underachievers who all hope to be the next Eminem or at least try to act the part.
