I really hate things like this. Should definitely be separated into 4-3 and 3-4, at least for front 7.

i agree to a point, but this is based on impact and to say someone that has lets say 20 sacks at a 3-4 olb isnt more impactfull that a 4-3 olb is debatable...just like a 3-4 DE or 4-3 DE its about stats and impact

That is an easy problem to fix, count 3-4 OLB as 4-3 DE and 3-4 DE as 4-3 DT. Easy fix.

In this case, even if it isn't, there hasn't been a defensive OLB better than Brooks regardless of scheme or stats this past decade and Lewis played in both systems so he can keep his spot.

Was Champ Bailey ever feared like a Deion Sanders was? Not a big Broncos or Redskins fan.

Would teams just avoid his assignment completely?

I always feel bad for guys who peak between decades. You know, like you're the very best between 2007 and 2014. You won't get on anyone's decade list.

These lists make me sad for those guys. Decades suck.

No, but in comparison to the other CBs in the competition he deserved to win it.

Cant argue with any of those so far.

Bailey beats out the likes of Asomugha due to playing the whole decade as much as anything.

Reed has been pretty damn good. Dawkins would be the only guy who truly competes in my book.

Ray has not competition. He was the best in 2000 and was at worst the 3rd best LB at the end of the decade and at no point was he ever any lower than that. There may have been 1 year in the decade where you could argue that Urlacher was better and you could argue Willis last year, but other than that, I think he was probably #1 every year.

Brooks was pretty damn good though I really missed his prime. There hasn't really been anyone to consistently compete with him, from what I know he was the unquestioned best OLB until 2005.

DT is still the hardest defensive spot, especially due to the whole 3-4/4-3 element and that really none of the DTs have been there the whole decade.

Yes, if you got look at quotes from Brady or Manning they say for the most part Bailey is avoided and if you throw at him he its a good shot more than not its an interception or not shot for the reciever.

Champ's 2006 season he should have won the D player of the year, Bailey only got tested 35 times and only four passes were completed over him, none for touchdowns and 10 Ints, to go along with around 80 tackles

"A bad route or a bad throw, he's going to make the interception. He's not going to knock it away, he's going to intercept the ball."

"He's one of the very best in the history of the league at playing cornerback. He plays well against all styles of receivers, too. It's not like you go in there saying, 'Let's figure out if Champ can beat us,' because he usually can."

'If there is one guy you really don't want to pick on, it's Champ,'" Brady said. "I can't imagine you go into a game thinking, 'Oh, let's really go after this guy and see if he can make the plays.' Kind of like Ed Reed, you don't want to challenge him very often because you may get one, but he's going to get his one, too. That's what makes them great players."
