A 21 year old basketball player died last week from the same condition: Link.

This whole deal makes me extremely upset. How is it possible for a player in any sport to have a condition that is so easily detectable go unnoticed for so long? Hopefully the deaths of Gaines and Lewis will force organizations to re-consider the process for player physicals to place an emphasis on heart conditions that could be fatal.

RIP Gaines. :(
