It's a great deal for both sides so I'm not sure what you're thinking. Kid is going to be one of the best players over the course of the deal.

My bad... I thought dback allows him to have two free agency options. This contract knocks out two free agency options coming up. My bad.

You think he would have made $9 million in his first year or arb?

I would like to see a list for the Cubs. However, when there is probably 1 guys who deserves to be on a top 10 list it'll be depressing.

You got 1 top flight prospect and two other prospects that could make an impact.

Longoria's contract isn't absurd. 6 years $17.5 million. Hell Ryan Braun signed a 8 year $45 million deal after his rookie season.
And for those looking for their teams top 10 prospects. Baseball America usually starts to update theirs around this time but here's their 2009 top 10 for each team if you're interested.

Castro is a great prospect and Cashner is fairly good. If Josh Vitters walked more than once a month he could be up there.

I meant absurd in the "this is ridiculously cheap" sense, not expensive.

It brings back memories looking at that Top 10 list for the Phillies. It's been a long year for Phillies prospects.

My personal top 10 is as follows in parenthesis is the player's major weakness
1. Starlin Castro SS (Power not yet developed)
2. Brett Jackson OF (Power good enough for corner OF?)
3. Josh Vitters 3B (Can't take a walk)
4. Andrew Cashner P (Walks too many)
5. Jay Jackson SP (Gives up a lot of HRs)
6. Hak Ju Lee SS (Can't find one)
7. Chris Carpenter SP (Age)
8. DJ LeMahieu IF (Enough power for corner IF/Quick enough to play SS?)
9. Tyler Colvin OF (Can't take a walk)
10. Christopher Archer SP (Walks too many)
Pretty damn good at the top, but definitely pretty average in the middle to bottom. It is however nice to see the top picks represented pretty well here, definitely shows improvement by the Cubs in the draft. Cashner would be ahead of Vitters, but I think his future is in the bullpen.
Nice to see a lot of position player talent in the system, but the Pitchers are pretty far behind. I'd expect to see Pitchers drafted high this year by the Cubs.

How do you feel about Barney? His first name is escaping me at this moment.

Same guys in the top 5 as me, but I would bump Ramos down to 4, pushing Gibson and Sano up to 2 and 3. Ramos just seems like he's going to be an average catcher with great defense, which is great and all but Sano and Gibson have way more upside.
One thing I think we can agree on however is our farm system is now like 1000000 times better than it was a couple years ago.

No future Olympic hockey for him.:(
http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/a...ff-Cats-roster
It is not cool.
Anyways, Yankees game will be on TV today. Pitching is familiar, unfortunately but hitting like Laird, Nunez, Winafee, Golston and few others will be off the bench.
Any special youngsters other than last year's roster for Pirates to monitor?

List is lacking some serious Ryan Flaherty right now. I'd also keep an eye on Kyler Burke, who's finally hitting and probably a top 10 prospect only because of how thin the Cubs system actually is. I'd replace Colvin with Burke and put Flaherty at about 6 or so. Still love LeMahieu........

Anyone interested in joining another Fantasy league? Probably NL only, same rules as BF_51's current AL only dynasty league.
