Fair enough. It's true that a basketball team can be more dramatically changed by one player than a football team, since they play both sides of the ball and make up for a bigger percent of starters.

I don't think it's fair to compare Manning to Jordan. Also, just because they didn't give it to MJ three times in a row doesn't mean they didn't give it to Barry Bonds four times in a row, or Wayne Gretzky EIGHT times in a row. At one point, you would have assumed the baseball voters would have gotten tired of voting Bonds, and that the hockey writers would have gotten tired of voting Gretzky. Also the NFL writers themselves gave it to Brett Favre three times in a row.

Hell, even the NBA gave it to Wilt, Bill Russell and Larry Bird three consecutive times each. There were a lot of people(myself included) who didn't think he should have won it this year, and he still did. If he has another great year, he'll have a great chance to win it again.

If anything today's sports writers would be more than willing to give it to the same guy over and over again. Considering how concerned we all are, how desperate to witness history in the making. We love legends and love to create legends... Honestly it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Peyton end up with 5, 6 mvp awards.

They write about his legend, his greatness and his MVP awards on the one side and support it on the other one. Think about it.

2010 NFL is not equal to 1993 NBA or 1988 NHL or 1960 NBA, so please stop with the references. The only thing remotely comparable is Favre in the mid 90s and even there so much has changed since then...at that point in time the Internet was used by a few geeks with 56k modems and Microsoft.com looked like this:

Yeah and your point? Why exactly would the differences of today make it more/less likely for Peyton Manning to win 3 MVPs in a row? Also one of my examples was Barry Bonds in 2004, when he won his 4th consecutive MVP. I was merely pointing out that there is a definite precedent for deserving candidates getting the MVP over and over again. You pointed out that microsoft.com looked really weird.

-So much has changed in the NFL and the media particularly that the voters have access to much more information, particularly fan input and Internet buzz
-Again, the MLB is not the NFL. That has nothing to do with dates.

Aaron Rodgers MVP? Could say the same thing about Matt Schaub if we're just talking stats.

Who's talking stats? Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and Schaub is not.

There isn't anything that puts Rodgers head over heels above Schaub...unless it's getting sacked or fumbling the ball.

Oh why thank you for clarifying. I was seriously lost when the last person told me this, but you just did such a good job of backing that up after your statement with all of your facts youve persuaded me.

You're not serious about me believing that Aaron Rodgers isn't heads and heels better than Matt Schaub as a quarterback? I don't believe Rodgers is. Both are two of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Peyton Manning has had two chances in his postseason career to engineer a 4th quarter game winning drive, and he did it once with a TD against the Pats, and failed another time because Vanderjagt missed against Miami, which is clearly his fault. How can one be a failure in situations where one isn't given a chance? It's not like there haven't been several times where he's put his team in position to tie (vs. Steelers 2005), take leads (vs. Chargers 2007, vs. Miami 2000), or hold leads (vs. Chargers 2008, Super Bowl XLIV) at crucial moments in the postseason, but the one thing unique to the NFL about the postseason is that there are no series, you get one game, so the bounce (or kick) of a ball can be incredibly influential on the result of a season for a team or even the entire league, and unfortunately the Colts have been on the wrong side of a lot of them. How you can blame someone who hasn't gotten opportunities in many cases for the results is something I don't really understand.

Well, there you have it folks, case closed, RC3 is just far too persuasive with this post.
