Default Roethlisberger suspension racist!

Ray Lewis could of murdered a man and at the very least knows who did and inhibited justice by not talking. Which would make him an accomplice.

Jamal Lewis was caught drug trafficing like he was scar face and doesn't get suspended.

Michael Vick kills and tortures dogs for his amusement and only gets four games.

What do these people have in common. All were officially charged and found guilty of crimes and all are african american.

Ben Roethlsberger is white and has been accused but not found guilty nor been charged with a crime but gets a six game suspension. This is the NFL holding a white player to a different standard.

Not sure if srs? But if you are, there are some things you ignored.

Lewis' incident didn't happen under Goodell's totalitarian regime, it was when Paul Tatagliabou, or that guy, was Commisioner.

Vick spent a year not only away from football, but in jail. That also had a heavy influence in Goodell's decision, believe it or not.

Not sure what ended up having with Jamal.

Ben wasn't punished the first time, but this time was a punishment for both. Repeated offense, thus the 4-6 games. I'm with you, I think it was two games at most, but I see where Goodell got the suspension from.

I'm more worried with Ben fixing his s*** and convincing the Rooney's he can change, than with the suspension. We can lose all 4-6 (not likely though$ with him out and still make the playoffs.

I like how he left out pacman who was also not convicted but was suspended for a year. I think jamal lewis happened under Paul Tags and he got probation in the criminal case but I could be wrong.

Goodell's decision has nothing to do with race, any more than it has one iota to do with morals or personal conduct.

It's all about protecting the brand, "the shield," which is to say, if Goodell thinks he has to suspend Ben 6 games to protect the big money interests of the NFL, then that's what he's going to do.

If Goodell thought the NFL would lose a billion dollars unless he put his own mother in a pot and cooked her, you could start dicing carrots and potatoes and gathering firewood right now.

Pac man Jones was arrested ten times and charged most of them. Ben been arrest zero times and charged zero times. I think a one game suspension by the league and one by the steelers would of been a big enough message.

Most of those things you mentioned did not happen in the Goodell era.

Hey you forgot to mention PAC-Man, and Tank Johnson, and Chris Henry...lets just make a list.
Ben Rothlisberger
Pac Man
Tank Johnson - 8 games 07 arrested twice
Chris Henry - 8 games in 07 repeated offender
MV7
Marshawn Lynch
Donte' Stallworth
Larry Johnson
Brandon Marshall
Bryant McKinnie
Fabian Washington
Fred Evans
Jerramy Stevens
Odell Thurman - Suspended in 06 4 games, season in 07, reinstated 08 and then suspended for rest of season.

hmmm seems fair.

Larry Johnson got 1 game for not being arrested.

Ben had the same accusations brought up against him twice. And the Steelers are not allowed to do that, the NFLPA would sue the hell out of the Steelers and NFL then.

Chris Henry

On December 15, 2005, Henry was pulled over in northern Kentucky for speeding. During a search, marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license or valid insurance.[19] He pleaded guilty and avoided a jail sentence.

One month later, on January 30, 2006 he was arrested in Orlando, Florida for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm.[20] He was reported to have been wearing his #15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. He pleaded guilty to this charge and avoided jail time.

On April 29, Henry allowed three underage females (ages 18, 16 and 15) to consume alcohol at a hotel in Covington, Kentucky.[21] One of the three, an 18-year-old woman, accused Henry of sexually assaulting her; she later retracted her story and was charged with filing a false police report.[22] On January 25, 2007, Henry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of a city ordinance commonly referred to as a "keg law." He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.[21]

He was pulled over on Interstate 275 in Ohio on June 3 at 1:18 A.M. by Ohio Highway Patrol trooper Michael Shimko for surmised drunk driving. He voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at 2:06 A.M. at the Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted in the state of Ohio.[23]

On October 6, he was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbade Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay and their October 22, 2006 home game versus Carolina.[24]

The following April, Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy.[12] His suspension on the 10th came with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry was given permission by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to begin practicing fully.[25] His suspension was lifted and he played in the November 11, 2007 game versus the Baltimore Ravens, amassing 4 catches for 99 yards.

Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee in Newport, Kentucky on November 6, 2007.[26] He was arrested for a second time in Orlando on December 3 for violating his probation he was on from a January 30, 2006 arrest. On February 21, 2008, he was found not guilty.

On March 31, 2008, Henry punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and threw a beer bottle through the window of his car. Henry claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and also that he thought it was somebody else that owed him money.[27] Henry was waived by the Bengals a day after this arrest and was then served a house arrest sentence.

Yeah, lets put Ben in the same league as Chris Henry! Like I said Ben has none nothing wrong in the eyes of the law. I know the league has the right to suspend him without an arrest or conviction. But this is unpresidented. Not ONE of those players you mentioned were not charged or arrested. In almost all your examples both happened multiple times!

Bottom line this was a white guy the league wanted to make an example of and they did.

Yeah But not all of that took place while Goodell was in charge. He came in Sept 2006.

And as you listed he was suspended multiple times, with 8 being the harshest.

Okay what about Jeff Reed who has been in arrested multiple times for being drunk in public or disorderly conduct twice with no punishment. He is white but has not been suspended or even considered for it.

Am I the only one that think New England Pats are out there trying to find some women to accuse half of the Colts team in hopes they get suspended this season?

The issue I have with this suspension is he was not charged or arrested for this, it could simply all be an accusation. Hitler is setting some dangerous presidents that are trampling all over constitution and human rights. At his pace he is destine to create bigger problems and tarnish the image of the NFL.

Truth be told the real culprit of tarnishing the NFLs image is the media.

What happens when a girl cries wolf when indeed there was never any wolf to begin with? Some poor guy is going to have his career blacked eyed if he gets treated teh way Ben has.

I don't think it matters if Ben was charged he was the idiot who put himself in the situation for this to happen. He is a high profile athlete with a pending rape lawsuit and so is an easy target for future accusations. Yet he still thought it was a good idea to go to some ****** college bar and surround himself with drunk women. If any company had a high profile employee involved in something like this they would probably want to distance themselves whether or not he was guilty. I think this just sets the precedent that players can't be drunk jackasses and put themselves in compromising situations anymore.

I agree with this to a point, but how much should he have to sacrifice? And what's to stop someone from accusing him anyways? The other girl who made an accusation, if I remember correctly, did so when he was staying at a hotel for a golf tourney or something. What's to stop anyone from saying any player did something to them?

I mean, say player X is out with his wife/girlfriend at a reasonably nice restaurant. He goes to the bathroom, or maybe steps outside to make a call and some gold digger sees and recognizes him, and maybe stops him to get a picture. Then she goes on to say that he raped her or assaulted her or something. Goodell has set the precedent that he can punish that player with no conviction or even charges brought against him.

The girl would have photo evidence, the two might have been seen by a third party who could corroborate them being seen together, and all she would need is a friend to lie for her and say he was acting shady. Pick a player with an already shady rep or someone known for enjoying the nightlife and you have a guaranteed suspension. And the scenario isn't all that crazy that it couldn't happen. If Goodell keeps this up, he's going to suspend someone who really didn't deserve it and possibly ruin their career.

I agree with that pretty much but I think for the most part it is somewhat easy to tell things that are fairly frivolous especially with cameras being everywhere and if only two people say something with no corroborating evidence. In this last case you could at least place Ben in the same building and maybe even the same bathroom as the girl and it was a bar. For Ben from now on he is gonna have to stay out of bars which sucks, but its the position he put himself in. I agree that this may open itself up to over zealous fans trying to screw over some player, but if you can't put that player in a room alone with the accuser nothing will come of it. I think athletes just need to realize who they are and keep themselves out of possibly damaging situations.

All true, and I'm not saying if Ben is guilty or not, I just think the penalty was heavy handed not thought through. I don't think there was any evidence to him being in the bathroom, just the accounts of people, though enough people to believe it true. My fear is that Goodell is making judgements on what he thinks of a player and how that player made the NFL look in the eyes of the public. He's really being punished by the media because they drew so much attention to it.

The question is, what happens if someone accuses a guy like Donovan McNabb or Tony Romo of sexual assault? A guy who's considered a high character person? You suspended Ben with no real evidence, no conviction, and no charges brought against him, so now you have to do the same. Or what about a guy like Marvin Harrison? Everyone thought he was a saint, but now there's people linking him to a murder for hire. Again, no real evidence or charges, but there is a police investigation. If he were still playing, would he be suspended? They didn't suspend him when it first happened. Very similar situation, but the media didn't crucify him.

I personally think that Ben should have gotten a conditional 4 game suspension, reduced to two if he gets some counciling and stays out of trouble. That would be reasonable for anyone and looks more like an intervention than a guilty verdict. I mean, for all we know, that girl could have asked him into the bathroom and maybe Ben shut her down and she got pissed. Or maybe he tried to get physical, she said no and he threw some insults at her way so she said something to get him back. Or maybe it was all consensual and she lured the idiot in there to make some cash. No one knows and no one will know except for Ben and that girl. A two game suspension for being a dumbass seems reasonable and fair.

Anyway, thats enough of me ranting. You could really go and debate this forever if you wanted. At this point, Im just sick of hearing about it.

I pretty much agree with what you said. I could see four games reducing to two a la Vick. The only thing I do have to say is Harrison was involved in that murder. It was his gun that originally wounded the guy, then when it looked like he was gonna go to the cops, he got shot a bunch of times while sitting in his car. The only reason Harrison wasn't charged is because its north philly and no one talks to the cops or they will be next. That was a bit off topic but you still hear about it from time to time in philly. But back on topic yea the suspension probably could have been shorter.

lol...he got 4-6 games and wasn't convicted. If anything, GODdell was overly hard on Roethlisberger. He shouldn't have been suspended that long for being accused of rape...however, I'm glad he was suspended for being a ******* idiot. Still love him though...
