My parents have a Sony Bravia and Uverse but don't subscribe to HD. That's not as bad as having the channels and not using them, but still a little silly IMO.

My dad will usually watch everything in HD, but sometimes he doesn't know the HD channel. So instead of going to guide and starting at 200 (where our HD channels start) and just scrolling to find ESPN2HD, he just watches the normal ESPN2. It wouldn't anger me as much as if it was a normal channel/normal show, but it's pretty unforgivable to watch a sporting event in normal definition if HD is available.
