Thoughts, opinions?

It is really really hard to not get excited about Matthews after his performance.

Too many dumb penalties.

Pass D was a little iffy against Chicago's #1 O, but the front 7 shut down the run well. Strickland seems like a solid addition.

I went to the game and watched the first half on replay, I'll write more later when I sit down watch the 2nd half.

Late afternoon summer preseason games = WAY too much time to tailgate before hand.

More thoughts looking back -

Antonio Garay stood out to me on the defensive front. He looks like a physical beast whose technique is catching up.

Similarly, Tyronne Green looked very mobile and good at LT.

In fact, the whole OL had a good game. Clary and Vasquez had strong games.

Naanee plays a little like VJ-lite. As long as he can split zone defenses apart, like VJ could, the deep passing offense should be fine.

Brandon Lang really flashed out there and there is a spot for him seeing as Butler landed on IR.

Cam Thomas looked good (chose #76 too...)

Very pleased with what I saw. While we all want our holdouts back, their absence has created alot of competition and there are many young Chargers ready to break out...
