Yea that's true, but now it's even worse. He has a huge ass belly. I've been really impressed by jamaal anderson. They said he put on a lot of weight, but it looks like he's moving really well.

Bengals cut Antonio Bryant. You guys think it would be a good move to go after him? I think there is a possibility.

Stay away from that guy! He just basically stole $7 million dollars from the Bengals. Plus he is a head-case.

Not that this is much of a surprise but
Brian Williams & Chevis Jackson are on the verge of being cut

Good, anything other than:
Dunta Robinson
Chris Owens
Brent Grimes
Would be a mistake. Not a terrible group, talent wise anyway.

They gave Chevis Jackson more reps then any other player this pre-season. There is a reason for that, they want a long look at him.
Dunta Robinson
Chris Owens
Brent Grimes
Domonique Franks
-------------
Brian Williams
Chevis Jackson
We could keep 6 but there is no need, so it's either gonna be Brian Williams or Chevis Jackson. Really I couldn't care less which one makes the team. They are both slow and won't even help much on ST.

Pete Prisco with a lot of nice things to say about the Falcons on his 14 camp tour round up. Here are the Falcon snippets (cause who cares about other teams):
Quote:
Five best teams I saw
1. Indianapolis Colts
2. Dallas Cowboys
3. Atlanta Falcons
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Cincinnati Bengals
Five breakout players on the teams I saw
1. Kroy Biermann, DE, Falcons -- He will prove to be a heck of a complement to John Abraham. He plays all out all the time.
Five players I love interviewing
3. Tony Gonzalez, TE, Falcons -- He's been around a long time and can offer a candid look at the league. Plus, he's great for fitness tips. Just read his book.
4. Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons -- Like Manning, he's a fan of the game who always seems to have time to chat. He gets it.
Five players with new teams who will have a big impact
2. Dunta Robinson, CB, Falcons -- His ability to play man coverage will really help a defense that needs it.
Five players who will have bounce-back seasons
1. Michael Turner, RB, Falcons -- He is lighter and it shows. He got too heavy last season, and then got hurt. The Falcons need him to be close to his 2008 form.
Five best rookies I saw
4. Corey Peters, DT, Falcons -- He won't start, but he will be in the rotation. He's better than even the Falcons expected.
|
Man, he might be higher on the Falcons than people at AFMB.

I really love that. Thanx D.
I'm happy with what he said about Kroy, seems like people around the league are starting to notice him. I'm not surprised that Corey Peters is his best rookie. I really won't be surprised if he does even start at some point. That is my favorite selection after watching the team play this pre-season. Is he injured though? How long is he out?
edit: Just saw he was out 10-14 days on August 22nd. According to that he should be ready by week 1.

I still think that the running game, O-Line, weapons, and yes even Defense are there. We will go as far as Matt Ryan will take us. Will he develop as Philip Rivers did in their third years or have we seen him plateau? It took Eli Manning five years. Some never make it work.

I just hope Byron Leftwich is the starter week one. With that horrible o-line and his lack of ability to move, we should have no problem getting to him and taking him down.
I doubt he start though.

The only thing I worry about is Mike Wallace getting loose deep. Other than that, there offense doesn't scare me in the slightest with Ben Roethlisberger shaking off defenders and extending plays.

We should do fine, I can see the defense playing as well as they did last year vs. the dolphins on the opener. The offense just needs to put points up. You can count on seeing Turner a lot.

Oh, and just a few things.
10 minutes ago - After watching the Miami film, S Thomas DeCoud said the Falcons look different on the field, and not from an X's and O's standpoint. "We have a different passion about it on defense this year," DeCoud said. "We can have something that's pretty special."
27 minutes ago - Coach Mike Smith on whether the Falcons are experimenting with defensive looks on third down: "We have to experiment because what we did last year definitely wasn't acceptable." Smith added that he's studied what other teams do to defend on third down.
39 minutes ago - Coach Mike Smith on QB Matt Ryan's accuracy issues through the preseason: "We don't want to be a 50-percent completion team. As we and Matt evaluated, we saw some things we need to work on, and I think we have those things corrected."
Matt said he saw some footwork issues the other day, and maybe it was just a few small tweaks.

It was accuracy issues on some easy passes and strength issues on long balls. I really hope he gets that ironed out or we'll just have to overuse Turner.

Am I the only one afraid of Polamalu and the Steelers defense in Pittsburgh? Sure our defense may shut down the Steelers offense, but our offense has a tendency to sputter out on the road, especially against good teams. The Steelers rushing defense was 3rd in the NFL last year, despite missing a star safety for much of the time...Matt Ryan is gonna have to step up against the pass rush of Harrison and Woodley and deliver if Turner gets stuffed.

Thats my major concern, sure Turner is ''buff'' but look at what happen
to Jamal Anderson (32) Dan Reeves ran him into the ground which
lead to injuries that ended his career

I'll point them out.
OFFENSE
1. Chris Redman- Had some solid drives. Moved the ball well. Great throws, awesome accuracy. Made mostly good decisions. Should have only had 2 incompletion, but his receivers weren't good.
2. Michael Palmer- 22 year old TE, the guy looked great (again). He has really awesome hands and for a big guy gets open. Physically not the fastest or strongest guy but just plays well. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team and is out there on 2 TE sets, sharing with Peelle. Possible replacement for Gonzo in future.
3. Jerious Norwood- Didn't really have a good game, but he looked good. If that makes sense. He looked as quick and fast as usual healthy Norwood. Actually had a long TD run but was called back. His play is aided by the fact that Antone Smith and Nance haven't played all that well, all pre-season.
DEFENSE
1. William Moore- I love the way he comes up and hits. He was extremely physical. No question he will replace Coleman, it's just a matter of when.
2. Jamaal Anderson- Really only showed up on 2 plays, but it was nice to see. One was a running play where he was unblocked, but he didn't **** it up, he made the play. Another play was when the QB held the ball like 15 seconds and he got to him and took him down just before he throw it away.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Michael Koenen- Made a nice 60+ yard punt 10 yard deep into his own endzone.
Michael Bush- Undrafted safety, made a nice hit on a punt return. Won't be enough to make the team, but they put his name on the screen so good for him.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are now more open to the idea of trading Vincent Jackson, and are targeting the deadline of Saturday afternoon to complete a deal.
The Chargers have permitted only Seattle to speak to V-Jax to this point, but are reportedly considering opening the door to other interested teams. The Jackson camp is now saying its target contract is less than the initially reported $50 million over five years, with $30 million guaranteed. A trade would be a best case scenario for both sides. Chargers GM A.J. Smith could get a premium pick and a headache off the roster. V-Jax could play football.
Never going to happen, but I'm still going to hold onto some hope.

I think we go for a cheap route and sign an average veteran WR. Smith is gonna wait a little bit, maybe someone popular gets cut tomorrow.
