Confidence is always key. If by chance you aren't very confident, but perhaps are quick witted try wearing gimmicky t shirts. I, for an example, have one that says "I'm Probably Lying" and that shirt alone has been well worth the investment. I can't tell you how many times a girl will come up to me and initiate a conversation based off of that shirt.

Banana Republic is expensive. I have a few BR shirts, but i wouldn't completely make my wardrobe strictly of BR unless i had a comfy job where it would be okay to regularly spend $80 on a shirt.

That's practically their market anyways -- 80K+ earners. And, yes, it wouldn't be realistic for someone on here to regularly dish out that kinda dough, and I'm not expecting anyone to; I just decided to offer up a place that I like to check out to anyone who may be interested. Plus, I don't want people to acquire this perceived notion that dressing very well will get you laid, because that's faaaar from the truth. You could get laid looking like a hobo, if you're good at your "craft".

Some casual sneakers like Sambas or some kind of simple Pumas.

Jeans, ones that you know you look like the **** in, can be acid washed, dark blue, loose to your ass, fit perfect, cut of blood circulation to your *****(I do not own these), sits low on waist..what have you, as long as you can pull it off.
