Jackson to start over Favre?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5740302
This wont happen, Chilly dosent have the balls to pull this stunt.
If there is already a thread on this, I must of missed it so sorry ahead of time.

^Latest report says Favre is taking first team reps today.
I hope no one actually thought Favre was going to sit out with an ankle injury that wasn't too severe for him to play through last week before a pain-killing injection.

My guess is he'll be on a very short leash there. Childress probably doesnt have the cajones to just bench Brett for bad play but he can use the injury card if they are down early. This isnt going to end well for the Vikes this year.

Where did you see that? The media wasn't able to watch practice and all they said was that he was on the field playing catch.

Yea, all I saw was that he did some stretching and light throwing for the first 10 minutes that the media was allowed to watch. Chilly's supposed to address the media this afternoon after practice, so maybe he'll say how much Favre did.

Originally rotoworld said he was taking first-team reps. They have since changed the report.
Quote:
Brett Favre (ankle) returned to Vikings practice Friday on a limited basis.
Though Tarvaris Jackson took first-team reps, ESPN's Ed Werder predicts that Favre will start at New England, citing "the expectation of everyone" in the Vikings' organization. Werder noted that Favre got around "with a noticeable limp" in his high-top cleats, but looks poised to lead Minnesota onto the field against the Patriots. Randy Moss and Percy Harvin appear safe to use in fantasy leagues. Favre, though, is just our No. 16 quarterback for the week. Oct. 29 - 1:07 pm et

Still, he's starting on Sunday. It's foolish to think otherwise.

Even if he's too hurt to play, he'll limp out and hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson a few times before letting Jackson take over.

This this this.
There is nothing in Bretts life that he cares about more than that streak. Not his team, not his family, not even that Jenn didnt hit reply with shots of her clam. Its why hes kept coming back the last couple of years, he desperately wants to put this out of Peyton's reach.
Cant wait until the day its broken and an even older favre comes on the screen and does the whole completely bs charade of 'im so happy you broke my record blah blah blah'

IMO he's decided he will get the streak to 300 starts or die trying. I wonder if it's just so he can go around saying "I started 300 straight games at QB in the NFL. How bout you?" whenever he wants to win an argument. It sounds better than "over 200" or "almost 300". Trevor Hoffman stated 600 saves as his goal, I think 300 starts is Bretts, he just hasn't told anyone.

i thought this too at first, but then i thought...
is the The Truth T-Jackson better than an injured and playin like crap favre?
I say yes, how could he play worse at this point? at least give him a shot to show hes still crap rather than go with the guy whos already proven hes playing like garbage. Im guessing almost everyone else would say no anybody could out play tjax but idk i think anyone else could outplay favre right now.
his timing looks off, hes looking for the wrong guy on plays, hes not on the same page as some of his recievers...all things that wouldnt be a problem if he had shown up to training camp like everyone else and didnt get treated like he was special...

This whole season has made my hate Brett Favre even more. Even with his injuries and his poor play, he refuses to let that get in the way of his ego. He doesn't care about the team because if he did he would realize that a healthy Brett Favre is a much better asset to the team than an injured and banged up Brett. Selfish selfish selfish.

I said it a few times over the summer and got ridiculed, but...I think that if Jackson gets a chance to start at least a few games this year, he's going to look like an average QB AT WORST. I think if he'd started the season, the Vikings would still look like contenders.
Now laugh at me, I'm used to it whenever anyone brings this up.

It looks like Brent is going to play. IMO T Jack gives the Vikings a better chance to win and Childress should have declared Brent out as soon as he got the MRI. As a Packer fan I want Favre to sit just so we were the team to break the streak, but that would give them a better chance to win. I don't see how he makes it through the entire year though. Since he's playing it's going to take awhile to heal, and it doesn't help that he's 41. When the weather gets cold I don't know how he's going to keep going out there for 4 quarters, especially if they get eliminated. Not to mention he's not going to practice hardly at all, and he was already practicing light with his shoulder. How is he going to play better by not practicing? How is Childress going to keep playing him if he doesn't play better? Something has to give in this situation. With 8-9 games left and everything deteriorating, it's going to happen.

The real question is how many games will Favre start if the Vikings continue to lose?

I agree with you. Favre is one of my childhood heroes, I grew up watching him play, and I just hate that he can't accept it's time for him to leave.

I'm guessing you've never seen Jackson play.
