It's not that they're not an elite team. It's the fact that they play no one. Ohio State finishes the season with a Penn State-@ Iowa-Michigan stretch. When was the last time BSU played a stretch like that? Alabama played @ Arkansas, vs. Florida and @ South Carolina in the middle of the season. When's the last time the Broncos played a stretch like that? Right, never. Again, maybe we should let D-II Albany State play for the BCS title game since they're undefeated and played a bunch of nobodies.

All they have done is beaten everyone on their schedule including Virginia Tech, who is looking to finish off a perfect ACC record.
They are most certainly an elite team and deserve their shot to prove it, provided they beat Nevada.

The very same Virginia Tech who lost at home to 1-AA James Madison? Right.

And when they learn to play real teams more consistently instead of playing one above-average team per year, maybe they can earn it.

That's the BSU quandary in a nutsack. The one time they beat an elite & perennial contender team, Oklahoma, in a bowl, they did it with gadget plays & won in OT.
Cal hosts local rival Stanford today in the annual Axe Battle, 12:30 PST. Cal managed to salvage some pride this season by coming very close to upsetting Oregon last wk, but that hasnt silenced the critics howling for Tedford's head on a pole. They had the Quackers away from Autzen & that looks like the only plc. they can be had, they did break Oregon's avg. of 50+ points/game. If they had a decent defense & weren't one-dimensional offensively with Vereen, oh well, Tedford will almost certainly get canned if they don't beat Stanford at home today.
Last yr. Cal upset them when Luck was out with an ankle injury but the Cardinal is all healthy today. Here's an obscure stat supporting Luck's incredible passing & running nos: Stanford is tied for the lead among BCS teams with Army in QB protection allowing an avg. of only 0.4 sacks per game. It will be on a wet field in Strawberry Cyn, a cold north Pacific storm blew in here from the Gulf of Alaska last night & dropped temperatures about 20 degrees F. & soaked everything, intermittent showers predicted during the game but I don't think that will slow Luck down. Nevada hung about 50 on Cal this yr, Stanford has the best defense, best QB & best HC in the Pac 10 + the best pass protection in the nation so I'm thinking Stanford 31, Cal 15.

This is going to be a longggggggggggggg day for Michigan's defense.
Also, John Clay looks like a goddamn defensive tackle.

I really don't understand this D. I'm not talking about them being bad, I'm talking about having arguably the best WR on Wisconsin run down the middle while having the CB play the deep corner with no middle coverage

Looks like Vinopal read that too slowly. Also, James Rogers is down. Why does God hate Michigan's corners?
Mike Martin is such a beast. He just threw his man down.
OMG! MICHIGAN BLITZED! Holy ****! It worked! On 3rd and long!

Who cares? They've won the 8 games since then. Clearly, they let Boise State beat them twice, but they have bounced back and look like they will be headed to a BCS Bowl as the ACC champion.

You cannot be an elite team if you can't beat a 1-AA team at home. You just can't. I would know.

Well, there's that and and he was left unblocked. Denard joins the 2,000/1,000 club!

that but I've seen Ezeh blitz unblocked and completely run by the QB. And why is Vincent Smith blocking JJ Watt?

20 minutes away from Fed Ex field and the Big Ten Network has the Michigan State vs. Purdue game on all 5 channels. You'd think if they had 5 channels they'd at least put the other game that's being played on one of them.
