Default Winning Percentages of BCS Teams & Conferences

110+ wins – Elite programs
99-109 – Great programs
88-98 – Solid programs
70-87 – Average
58-69 – Below Average
47-57 – Bottom Feeder
46 & Below – FCS quality

Top 10
1. Texas [128-27, .826] – Only team with a winning percentage above .800
2. Ohio State [119-32, .788] – Clearly the class of the Big Ten
3. Oklahoma [122-35, .777] – Bob Stoops has 8 seasons of 10+ wins or more in his 11 seasons at OU.
4. Florida [119-36, .768] – One of just two teams with two BCS championships
5. Virginia Tech [119-36, .768] – Has not had a season at or below .500 in the BCS era
6. Southern Cal [116-37, .758] – Pete Carroll rose this program from the ashes.
7. Georgia [115-38, .752] – Mark Richt has been to a bowl game every season he has coached at UGA.
8. Miami (FL) 110-40, .733 - Fallen on somewhat hard times recently but the "U" is still very respected.
9. Florida State [108-46, .701] – Bobby Bowden took FSU to 26 straight bowl games.
10. Wisconsin [107-46, .699] – Only one season below .500 for the Badgers since '98.

Bottom 9
1. Duke [26-112, .188] – The absolute worst team out of all the BCS teams.
2. Baylor [37-101, .268] – Putrid for a long time, Art Briles has them headed in the right direction.
3. Vanderbilt [41-98, .295] – Doesn't even come close to competing with the rest of the SEC.
4. Indiana [47-92, .338] – They did have basketball at one time.
5. Illinois [56-85, .397] – Ron Zook has not been much better than his predecessors.
6. Stanford [58-81, .417] – Program will continue seeing success as long as Harbaugh stays around.
7. Mississippi State [60-83, .419] – Dan Muellen is turning the program around.
8. Syracuse [61-82, .426] – New coach Doug Marrone has more wins in 2 years than his replacement had his whole tenure.
9. Iowa State [62-83, .427] – They beat Texas this year.

Nice work diab.

Just to clarify, are these the records over the past decade or since the inception of the BCS?

Mountain West
Boise State (102-15, .872, since 2001)*
TCU (108-38, .740)
Air Force (86-60, .589)
Fresno State (94-60, .584
Hawaii (89-67, .570)
Colorado State (77-70., .524)
Nevada (59-64, .480, since 2000)*
New Mexico (66-80, .452)
Wyoming (57-83, .407)
San Diego State (50-91, .355)
UNLV (44-96, .314)
Total: 832-724 (.535)

*donates move to FBS in the year provided

As you can see, San Diego State and UNLV really bring down the overall quality of the conference. If the MWC wished to replace those two schools with two others then Houston and Southern Miss would do wonders for the overall record and level of competition in the MWC. That would be still only be eleven teams in the conference so if they wished to expand they could easily add Tulsa, who would fit into the footprint of the conference. But, I digress.

I'm curious to why you have Florida State, Wisconsin, and Oregon above Miami in your top 10. Miami has a better winning percentage and a BCS championship.

All that means in that the ACC has played the second-easiest out-of-conference schedule. The conference records of all the teams in a single conference are going to add up to a .500 record.

hmm oh yeah. In that case does that mean MWC has played the hardest OCC schedule?

It was a slight oversight. I just corrected it.
