Damn, what a disappointing loss. We should have won that game. Terrible shot selection in the 4th did us in.

But anyone who saw that game can now see why we're so high on Amare Stoudemire. He's a legit MVP candidate, and a stud.

We're missing that 2nd guy to be a legit contender, but last night's game was promising. That was a hell of a game, and it felt like a playoff game to me as a Knicks fan. I can't say I've felt that way about a regular season game since 99.

You could notice that Boston felt the buzz too. The Garden is back. I can't wait to be at the Knicks/Heat game on Friday. It's going to be amazing!

I'm proud to say I bleed blue and orange. And it feels so good to be excited about the Knicks again.

What's lost in Stoudemire's impact on the team is that he's more than just a scorer. He's been a true leader for us, he holds everyone accountable and the team has passion again. We haven't had passion and the desire to win every game in 10 years. He's brought that passion to the team.

Some guys are just basketball players. Look at Bosh. He just plays. Even when he was in Toronto and was head hancho, he never brought that kind of intensity and leadership to the team.

That's why Amare has been so huge for us. He honestly wants to bring NY back, and that mentality has invigorated the whole team. In a league filled with guys who don't care, it's great to have someone on your team who does.

He's been so huge for us. He was worth every penny and some.

And the Celtics didn't have anybody in the lineup who is an actual center. So this isn't completely a valid argument for last nights game.

I love Stat. But a lot of the time he doesn't rebound as well as he can.

His skillset is ridiculous, but his inconsistency and lack of focus is so maddening. So, so, so, so maddening.

Agreed, playing for a **** team when you're that young can destroy you, especially if you aren't exactly the most mentally strong person out there, which Lamar Odom has shown he is not. But he just has nights where everything clicks, and looks like the best player on the floor by far. Then he half asses the next three games. Idk, i've always been a big fan of the day, and i can't really put my finger to what exactly has done him in, but it's no stretch to say he should have had an MVP (if not multiple) by now.

Yup, that's par for the course for LO. He'll give you a few games of great play and then will disappear for a week. And when I say great, I mean great. He can ball-handle and run the offense as a point forward, rebound and crash the boards, hit jump shots as well as post up...It's so frustrating because he's got one of the best all-around skill sets in the NBA.

He's one of the best examples you can give about tempering enthusiasm, because the majority of players in professional sports never come close to unearthing their full potential.

Odom is Kevin Garnett without the work ethic, balls, heart, determination, or desire.

Basically, if Garnett was a *****, he'd be Lamar Odom.

Yup, that essentially sums it up. Although, Odom has better ball-handling skills, and far more range on his jump-shot.

You could also argue that KG plays with too much rage and emotion. He's wound up so tight that it ends up hurting him in a lot of big-time situations.

I mean Bosh did lead/carry a pretty crappy Euroraps team to a division title and I believe the 4th seed. Bosh always played with intensity(except at the end of last year).

I think Odom is more of what Lebron James would be if he was a *****. Well, a bigger *****.

LeBron James has once in a generation size/speed/athleticism combo...so no.

In his prime, Lamar Odom was easily the most athletic player in the NBA. So, yes.

Garnett isn't clutch. He has Peyton Manning syndrome, where he can't rise up to a big occasion bc he already invests all his energy/emotion/dedication prior to the big moment. There's no gas in the tank to rise to that next level in the biggest moment.

Athletically, maybe. But Lamar Odom was never as fast as LeBron was. LeBron is insanely fast for 6'8/250.

I'm not saying he's an exact replica, i'm finding a good comparison. I think Lamar Odom in his prime resembles Lebron James from an athletic point of view and considering their ridiculous natural skill more than he does KG. Kevin Garnett became good at basketball over the years. Those other two guys' games just flow naturally. Nothing ever seems forced.

It's interesting that you bring this point up, i've never discussed it before. Kudos to you.

While Peyton gives it his all beforehand and like you said, has nothing left at the end, would you prefer someone that didn't give it their all? It's kinda hard to judge cause you want that guy to prepare as much as possible. Idk, more opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the thing about LeBron is, there have been guys who are freakishly athletically for their size and stature (Dwight, Lamar, etc.) but in terms of combining that pure athleticism and size with speed, no one comes close to LeBron.

I wasn't necessarily using my example when looking at his speed with the ball in his hands (and Lamar is not slow by any stretch of the imagination), but their size/athletic ability when compared to their natural skill. Yes, there are athletic freaks like Dwight, but that guy is probably the biggest robot in the NBA. There isn't very many players that are above the rim as far as athletic ability goes, and have the game to just dominate, but still suck for a good portion of the season.

That's a good question. I never really thought of it before...i want to say yes, i want the guy to prepare as much as possible, but Peyton is an example of how that can crash on you and cost you when you need him the most...

It's easy to say after the fact that I'd rather have a Joe Cool kind of guy who just has natural ability to go along with good but not overdone work ethic...but at the same time that's such a hindsight way of looking at things.

I really don't have a good answer for you. I don't know. I'd probably say I want a guy to bust his ass the way Peyton does.

An MRI today showed that Yao has a stress fracture in his left ankle. It relates to the injury he had last year that caused him to miss all of last season.. So it looks like Yao is done for good. Stick a fork in him. :(

Basically, if Garnett was a two time champion, he'd be Lamar Odom.
I don't see much of a comparison really.
