Car Help
Sorry if there is already a thread on this, I saw there was a What Car Do You Drive thread but didn't think this fit there, if it does just merge this thread I guess. I'm looking at buying my first car, and was wondering if this was a good deal. It's a 2001 Kia Sephia, and it is white. The car has 93,369 kms on it, has a/c, 4dr, is automatic and it comes safetied and etested. This will cost me $1950. He assured me there was no problems with the car blah blah and all that. Compared to other cars I have seen in my area, this is a great price especially considering the mileage, but I know nothing about the car so I could be wrong. This would be my first ever car so I'm trying to be a little careful here. I'll post the picture below. Can anybody help me out?

Huge problem being that it's a Kia. It's not like a Honda, Toyota, or VW where the car is just getting started at 100k...you don't see many old Kia or Hyundai's on the road...something to keep in mind. I wouldn't trust it, but when you're talking under $2000, you can't really go too wrong with anything that isn't a blatant piece of crap.

Ask the Car Fox for the Car Fax.
My dad drives an '03 Kia Rio for his commute car and my mom drives an '03 Kia Sedona since we need a van, and both have been fine. The Rio gets great gas mileage, and is even a 5-speed manual (I put an intake on it for my dad... Yeah, I know. But it's ******* blueberry colored! IT NEEDS TO AT LEAST SOUND MANLY!). It's fun to drive, but I drive a 6-cylinder manual, so farting around in a little 4 banger is fun. It's like a go-gart.
In fact, I could argue that my BMW has given me more mechanical problems and has required more money dropped into it than my dad's Kia has. But we bought the Kias brand new, and the BMW was pre-owned (and is a '93), and that could defintely have something to do with it. The Kia you're buying is pre-owned too, but it probably hasn't been driven hard, especially since it's an auto. I'd definitely take it to a Firestone or someplace like that and drop the $20 for a vehicle inspection.

Take a close look at the 2 bolded statements. What about them is contradictory? Think about it.
If you're buying your 1st car you're the natural prey of salesmen. The trust factor or lack of it is magnified by ~300%
Even in Canadian $ that's too high to pay. Look up the term predator in your dictionary & then have it checked out by a 3rd party pro mechanic.

maybe it's me, but I would buy from a private seller than a used dealer.

I would be less inclined to by an older Kia because they werent much more than junk when they first come out.
Was going to give the old buy American pitch but see you're from Canada.

Buy a volvo! Those bastards last forever. You could probably find a mid-90s one around that price or even cheaper.

Unfortunately, due to university payments I don't quite have the money for a corvette.

That isn't the actual picture, but ya it turns out he is a dealer so now I'd have to pay taxes and stuff too. I was under the impression he was a private dealer before when he emailed me in response of my ad looking for a car. The max I'm willing to spend is probably like 2500 because insurance is going to cost me a ton.
