Saw the new commercial for the new pokemon game, they have a black and a white version. It was hard not to think about this in a racial way

That took about 4 hours of my time yesterday. Its also out on android phones if you get the apk from their website.

He updates it pretty regularly too. Since I started playing a few weeks ago he has added about 3-4 lvls and multiple pokemon plus the stone store. Not too shab.

All the talk in the Funny Picture Thread kinda has me wanting to play. Except i don't know dick about pokemon other than the basics. I have an emulator but i don't remember which games i have. Yes, i know, i have zero information but i'll update soon.

Silly noobs the key to the start of the game with Charmander is gaining a good two or three oddishes Absorb is super effective against rock and water pokemon. Having Charmander also helps further down the game.

**** Oddish and all grass types. You can beat the first two gyms with a Butterfree. Nidoking for Lt. Surge and then pure Gyarados/Charmeleon pwnage for the next 2/3 of the game.

I hate grass pokemon and i will go out of my way to avoid using any of them, and those stupid rhino looking nidorinas(os). I know there's strategy to it but i think they look stupid and i'd rather have a harder time using cool looking pokemon.

I either used Butterfree or just raised up an Abra to be Misty. I also just used a Dugtrio that I just caught to beat Lt. Surge.

Yeah but wandering the forest to find butterfree or metapod (or I guess Weedle) either took too long to evolve or find if I was going to spend that much time I would just level up charmander.

It didn't take that long. Butterfree evolved at level 10. You could go from the weakest Caterpie to a confusion/poisonpowder capable Butterfree in a half hour.

Use that to beat Brock (or in the newer games, catch a Mankey) via poisonpowder. (War of attrition.)

Do the same vs. Misty's Starmie. Have a Pidgeotto take out Staryu, then poison Starmie and just hold out with Butterfree, Pidgeotto, Nidorino, Kadabra if you have one, and Charmeleon in an emergency.

From that point on, the game is cake. Drop off a Magikarp at the Day Care Center then do the SS Anne, beat Lt. Surge and go through Diglett's cave. Then pick up your level 19ish Magikarp. Raise it one level and BAM! Gyarados.

Charmeleon, Gyarados, Nidoking, Pidgeotto, and Kadabra headed to Rock Tunnel. Have many epic wins.

Nidoran learns Double Kick at level 12 and will destroy Brock. Butterfree is more of a hassle because of that douche Metapod.

Also, meh on Butterfree and Nidoking, especially the 3rd Gen versions. It sucks cause Nidoking's move pool is terrible. His main move should be Earthquake, and he doesn't learn it naturally. You'll have to use the TM for it, and you don't get that until you beat Giovanni in the last gym. So you're going most of the game with a halfassed Nidoking. You're going to have to invest another TM/Move Tutor on him too, because other than Megahorn, he doesn't learn anything close to good. Nidoking's stats aren't amazing either. You're better off going with Rhydon in my opinion. Misty is rough cause Starmie is faster than anything you have and Water Pulse is powerful for that stage of the game and can also confuse you. I always went with Bellsprout cause it automatically knows Vine Whip and learns Poisonpowder and Stun Spore early too, but Oddish/Butterfree would work as well since Bellsprout is exclusive to Blue/LeafGreen.

Catch a Caterpie to start and evolve it into Metapod. It keeps tackle as an attack that way. Just go a little south of Pewter City to a patch of grass and tackle the **** out of Rattatas and Pidgeys. At first, you might only be able to defeat one or two a time, but just run back to the Pokemon Center heal, and continue.

Like i said before, you can take a level 3 Caterpie and have a Confusion/Poisonpowder capable Butterfree in half an hour.

Also, I don't believe there is anywhere to catch a Nidoran before Pewter City. That one douche guy prevents you from going to Mt. Moon until you beat Brock, and the Nidoran patch isn't until after that iirc.

So in the newer games, just catch a Mankey west of of Viridian City and low kick Brock to death that way. Or, set up a Poisonpowder war of attrition with Butterfree.
