This would be a bonehead move, imo. They could get a better depth corner with that pick than with O'Neal.

Going on with what BlindSite and Shiver have said, I would love that secondary. I'm still praying Landry falls to us.

O'neal has been in the league awhile the only reason I see them trading for him is to help out the younger guys.

Honestly I don't really want Deltha gone. He has experience and I feel he can recover from last year to have at least a decent year as our #2 CB. Losing him means we have to start a rookie at our #2 spot from day one (Keiwan Ratliff should not/won't start at CB unless in a cover 2 defense when he moves on next year).

If it's for a 3rd rounder I'm happy. Deltha is in Marvin's doghouse and wasn't near his '05 level last year, plus he struggled with injury. I think he can still succeed for sure but he's just so inconsistant from year to year, maybe it's just best to cut ties with him. Marvin also implied that he was one of the "selfish" players that hurt the team because he felt he was milking an injury.

I hope this trade goes through then the Bengals go...
1. Reggie Nelson
2. WLB/CB
3. WLB/CB

he is a pretty good corner that gets hugely overated since he gets so many damn picks.

Has he become any better at covering since the Broncos tried to make him a WR?

In '05 he was amazing as a cover guy, regardless of the INT's. Last year he came down to earth with a thud. He has been well worth it for the Bengals since we got him.

Great deal for Cincy considering they aren't the fondest of him

An interesting deal. There's been a heavy amount of player trades this offseason.

I'm finally glad we got rid of Tory James and Deltha O'Neal. They were the main reason we were ranked last in pass defense.

Now JJ can start and develop.

Now it looks like we are looking toward drafting a CB in the first round - hopefully Chris Houston or Darrelle Revis. I wouldnt mind seeing Reggie Nelson on the roster either.

Good trade for us since we didnt even have a 3rd pick for the upcoming draft.

I think they wanted to cut him after his dissapointing 2006, so the 3rd rounder was a coup. I've had a CB to Cincy for a while now, I think Darrelle Revis will slip to them if St.Louis passes on him

O'Neal was terrible last year... Probably better than any 3rd round corner they would pick though... maybe?

We'd never get much of an offer for trade so it wouldn't be worth trading him at this point.

He can apply for reinstatement in June or July I believe then we'll see how things go from there.

Marvin said hes not in the teams plans right now.

So obviously he is angry with him, but the guy so much talent i wouldnt want to cut him.

Bad trade for Atlanta to me. A third is too high and O'Neal is vastly overrated.

Absolutely. Then draft a high-potential developmental guy in the 4th - like Jon Wade - to take over from O,Neal in a couple of years.

Another possibility is that the Jimmy Williams comment from Petrino was part of a disinformation strategy. If they DONŽT want Landry, though heaven knows why, then it would suit them to have the other teams assume that they do want him.

WOuld be slightly disappointed to give up a third pick for OŽNeal, since he is definitely on the downside, and the Bengals are clearly keen to ship him off.

I don't really know about that. Sure Deltha O'Neal had that lucky 10 INT season, but come, that was a fluke. He had a great pass rush, and the QBs threw the ball right at him. He is an average CB. I think the Bengals got a steal.
