Son of a *****! Guess I'll have to settle for a homer, triple, double, 5 RBI's, and 3 runs.

11 game hitting streak for Freddie Freeman. So hot right now.
He's having a better rookie year than I anticipated and his big league power, is a little more advanced than I thought it'd be at this point. Kid is going to be big time.
That's not even mentioning his glove...which is the sex.

I thought you could care less about defense... Your pitching staff is your defense.

I certainly want my IFs to know how to field.
But the Braves need bats in the OF. They dont need to be defensive superior players, ala Bourjos. Who hasnt been getting on base all that well since coming up. Although, I admit he'd be a good addition, if he could start to replicate what he did in the lower levels at the plate.
And dont get me started on defensive only OFs.
The Braves are praying Schafer turns into something he's not. Superior defender, horrible offensive player. His presence in the lineup is an offensive liability. And for a team like the Braves, with outstanding pitching and a rather low run producing lineup...it's not ideal at all. It's not like I'm saying for the Braves to get players that cant field at all at CF. They just need to find someone who can actually get on base at the position.
I would certainly sacrafice OF defense, for offensive production when you have a pitching staff as good as ours. Why not?

because your pitching staff won't look as good when you start sacrificing defense...

Meh...an average defender opposed to Schafer in CF, would not kill this team at all. And the offensive advantages would more than offset the defensive drop off. How often do Braves pitchers surrender insanley tough sreaming hits to gaps, anyway? An average defender who can make all the routine plays is all they really need.
I'm not talking about like a Manny out there, just average at worst, with a bat. Outfield defense tends to be overrated in my book, unless of course you have an overly atrocious fielder out there, but that's not even what I'm talking about.
And the player I'd want in CF for the Braves more than anyone would be Michael Bourn anyway...a fine outfielder.

Is there a stat that shows average distance of balls hit in play? Because if there is Ben Revere is dead last. Ever.

lol. You bastard.
I thought this was going to be a post about Rich Harden being scouted for possible trades. I've been on rotoworld too long today.

Lots of stuff in there...Quentin and Pence both "likely" to be moved by Sunday.

I think how that whole thing is going to go is that whoever loses out between the Braves and the Phils for Pence will probably end up with Quentin. Pence is clearly the better player and neither the Astros nor the White Sox are in much of a hurry to move either one. I think Quentin is a better fit for the Phils though.

Red Sox supposedly back in on Ubaldo Jimenez. Buchholz went to his third specialist the other day after supposedly getting ready for a rehab start. Pretty sure those two are related. Damn.
Kalish could be in play on this one. Reddick is proving his worth both at the plate and in the field defensively. That won't due it all on it's own though, considering Kalish has been hurt for much of the year. Middlebrooks could be in play too and that one would hurt a bit more...but it's fair value. Brentz and Head could be in the mix too. Wouldn't really mind, those are sell high guys IMO.

I don't think very highly of the Red Sox system at this point.

So what do you guys think? Are the Phillies going to cave and add Brown to the deal? Things may change, but Houston is playing some hard ball.
Pence fills in great with Atlanta as well...granted, he'd have to play CF. But the price is just insanely steep.

Just trade them Minor, Teheran & Vizcaino so it'll end this.

Pence really isn't even that good. If the Phils give up Cosart, Singleton, and more then Wade really fleeced them and that never happens.

The rumor that's circulating around is that Singleton is being swapped out of the deal and Brown is being inserted in his place with a third team entering the mix.
I'm fine with dealing Cosart but if they didn't want Singleton & May with Cosart; then I think Amaro needs to move on. Pence is a RH bat but I don't think he's going to help the Phillies score against Lincecum or Cain.

If that happened, I'd punch Frank Wren in the face....repeatedly. lol.
Teheran is worth more than Pence by himself. Yeah I said it.

He's an average to slightly above average player. He's having a career year because his BABIP is a ton higher than normal and his defense is continually getting worse. Also he's going to be due for alarge payday and he won't be worth the money. Brown and Cosart is an even bigger steal.

Sounds like the Phillies are ready to get raped for Pence. This is going to be great.
