Default Our UDFAs, a closer look

Raymond Webber (WR, Ankansas-Pine Bluff) He was monstrously productive (101-1429-10) in I-AA, leading the nation in catches, and has enough athletic ability and speed (4.50 10’06” LJ) to earn a shot at the NFL. His collegiate production is even more impressive considering the next most productive receiver on his team did very little (16-242-2). Webber produced 46.5% of his team’s receptions, 52.0% of their yards, and 47.6% of the team’s TD catches!. Has a solid chance (75%) of landing on the active roster or practice squad.

Derrell Smith (LB, Syracuse) was recruited and called by Coach Morris himself. Smith had over 100 tackles last season, stands 6’0 241 and ran 4.76 and jumped 35.5″. Team captain. He’s another MLB but this one is actually pretty good at the point of attack and taking on blocks. 2nd team all-Big East. Has a reasonable chance (50%) of landing on the active roster or practice squad.

Detron Lewis (WR, Texas Tech) 6’0 198 with 4.61 speed and 37″ VJ. he was very productive at TT, playing the Wes Welker role. Perhaps another slot WR to push Stroughter. Has a below average (40%) chance of landing on the active roster or practice squad.

Mike Coughlin, (QB, Boise St.) is the ultimate definition of “Camp Arm”. Threw 9 passes last season at Boise St. as Kellen Moore’s backup. Good dize, 6’4 225, and though he is slow (5.0) he has run quite well in college. Has an extremely poor chance (5%) of landing on the active roster or practice squad.

Mossis Madu (RB, Oklahoma) didn’t produce much as a Sooner. he bounced between RB and WR and was suspended for the opener for a DUI. He stands 5’11 201 and runs 4.61. Has a weak (10%) chance of landing on practice squad or active roster.

Nick Reveiz, (LB, Tennessee) one year starter, former walk-on, son of a kicker, blew out his knee in 09, 5'9 230, ran 4.70 37" VJ 6.99 3C, 28 BP, over 100 tackles his one full season as starter. Has a partial season under former DC Kiffin. Has a weak (10%) chance of landing on practice squad or active roster.

Armando Allen (RB, Notre Dame) like Madu, didn't really produce big numbers in college. Unlike Madu, did shoulder a higher percantage of the load. Stands 5'8 198 lbs and ran 4.59 40 with 31.5" VJ. Also had 23 lifts of 225. Can catch the ball but has a history of ankle injuries. Has a poor chance (25%) of landing on practice squad or active roster.

Matt Allen (C, Texas A&M) absolutely tiny as far as today's OCs are concerned (6'3 281) and not very athletic (5.22 40 29" VJ). Managed 25 lifts of 225 so shows some diligence in weightroom. Was 2nd team all-Big 12. Has a weak (15%) chance of landing on active roster or practice squad.

Corey Brandon (OL, Oklahoma)-great frame at 6'7 325 and decent athletic ability (5.34 40 26" VJ), showed some diligence in weightroom (26 reps). Was on 2010 Outland Preseason Watch List but didn't live up to expectations for one reason or another (injuries?). Has a poor (25%) chance of landing on active roster or practice squad.

Brandon Heath (LB, Louisville) Small (6'1 228), slow (4.83), and unathletic (28.5" VJ) OLB that didn't win a starting job until his 5th season in college. Strictly a camp body.Has an extremely weak (5%) chance of landing on active roster or practice squad.

Josh Jasper (K, LSU) Excellent collegiate K with outstanding leg strength (5-7 from beyond 50) and never had a kick blocked. Is routinely short on kickoffs but has pretty good experience as a punter. Has a small frame (5'10 174) so must generate a lot of leg speed and may not have a long career (a la Grammatica) due to lack of natural girth if leg speed ever diminishes. Has a reasonable chance at landing on active roster or practice squad (50%)

Christian Yount (LS, UCLA)-Smallish (6'0 241) longsnapper that has good placement and velocity. Has a very good chance (75%) of landing on active roster or practice squad.

Jock Sanders (WR, West Virginia) tiny (5'6 180 lbs) that had outstanding production as well as elite quickness and openfield running that could make him a threat. Does not have great vertical speed but could make his mark on special teams and in the slot. Has a reasonable (50%) chance of landing on active roster or practice squad.

Thomas Claiborne (OG, Boston College) is 6'1.5" and 342 lbs! He's freaking HUGE! Not surprisingly he is very slow (5.61) but has an aveage VJ of 26" and seems to have functional short-area quickness (7.79 3C, 8'01" BJ). He was All-ACC Honorable Mention. Chance of making active roster or practice squad is poor (25%).

Devin Holland (SS, McNeese St.) Holland stands 5'11 197 and ran a blazing fast 4.35 40! But on a down note, the guy didn't do much of anything in college. Only made 25 tackles in his 11 games his senior season, no INTs, 1 sack. Could still be an asset on special teams with his speed. Chance of making active roster or practice squad is very poor (15%).

Aaron Field (LS, Mississippi St.) I assume he can snap because at 6'1 230, he's not going to be doing much else on the OL. His chance of making the active roster or practice squad is poor (20%)

Quintin Borders (OL, Union) came from NAIA school, Union. he stands 6'5 318. There were no reports I could find on his pro day. I would think his chance of making the roster or practice squad is slightly better than mine (2%)

Victor Aiyewa (OLB, Washington) He was switched from SS in 09, made All-Pac 10 Honorable Mention in 2010. Had 5 QB sacks and led Pac-10 in tackles for loss per game with 1.5. He's not very impressive physically. He's got adequate size at 6'1 231 lbs and benched an impressive 30 reps of 225, but he ran a snail-like 4.92 40 and only had a 30" VJ. Chance of making active roster or practice squad is very poor (10%).

Deonte Jackson (RB, Idaho) very short (5'8 193), but also productive (running for 2700 total yards-including over 1100 as a freshman, totaling 68 career catches) for Vandals. He has pretty good explosiveness and athletic ability (4.53 40, 36.5" VJ, 7.03" 3C, 20 reps of 225). His production went down every year in college until his senior season. He split reps three ways in his final season. Chance of making the roster or practice squad? I don't know him or really of him but I'd say he has a poor (25%) chance of making the team in some way.

I didn't see anything redeemable on film for Derrell Smith. Dominik thinks highly of him though. Reveiz has the make-up of a special teams ace like Coy Wire imo. Love his vertical = explosiveness.

I see Derrell Smith as more of a take-on guy, I don't see where he fits in our D... but Dominik likes him enough to say he considered him for round 7. I just wonder what the hell I missed with Mario Harvey. It seems everybody (fans, writers, psuedoscouts) thought highly of him, everybody except the actual teams.

Part of me wants him to be another Sam Mills, another part of me thinks he'll be severely overmatched. Of course I'm hoping for another Sam Mills.

Haven't seen any reports of Claiborne being signed other than it being tweeted.

It was announced recently today that the Bucs signed Mason Foster's former running mate at LB, Victor Aiyewa.

Just read some good news. Former FAU QB Jeff Van Camp worked out for the Bucs today.

Several guys have been cut-RB Deonte Jackson, OT Quinton Borders, and K Josh Jasper.

WR Raymond Webber is headed for IR... Bucs also picked up Collin Franklin- Iowa St. product was 2nd in Big 12 (2nd team all Big 12) in receptions per game for TE (4.5). Stands 6’6 256 lbs and ran 4.69 at Pro Day. Also jumped 34.5” VJ, 10’06” BJ, and did 225 28X. He was cut by the Jets on Monday and Bucs today. He has practice squad potential.

Oh yeah, and Victor Aiyewa... not surprising considering he was a smaller LB that was just way too slow (ran a 4.92).

Josh Portis was incredible last night for the Seahawks. We wouldn't have been able to get him from them because they offer a much better opportunity, but man it would've been nice.
