It will NOT be open beta in September. They're going to ramp up the beta process, but they've said they're not going to do anything like a traditional open beta.
They're going to start a guild beta program. You have to have a guild with at least 10 people in it and they're going to pick randomly.

Video game retail giant GameStop has been opening up brand new PC game boxes of the critically-acclaimed shooter Deus Ex: Human Revolution and removing packed-in coupons granting free copies of the game to users of the OnLive cloud gaming service.
OnLive and Deus Ex publisher Square Enix announced the coupon deal yesterday, which would let buyers of a boxed PC copy download and play another copy of the game, for free, via OnLive's cloud based network, a $50 value.
But apparently GameStop, which has its own digital distribution platform, wasn't on board with what it believes is helping to promote the competition. A letter sent out to GameStop employees instructing them to "immediately remove and discard the OnLive coupon from all the regular PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution" has been widely circulated, and GameStop has since officially confirmed the practice.

Quick recap: They talked a bit about open world PVP (Ilum is the stage of major open world contention) and beta weekends are starting NEXT weekend, September 2nd. Good luck to you guys getting in!
I can't wait for The Old Republic beta test weekends. They said something along the lines that if you don't get in this weekend you should in another. They will probably be doing stress tests so a lot of invites should go out.
I'm about to start downloading SW:TOR! My buddy got in a few weeks ago and didn't realize it until today (he doesn't check his email often and it was sent to spam) and since he got the invite weeks ago he's in the actual full beta, not just the weekend test. He's going to play it for a bit and then he's going to let me log in. :D

Niiice! Give us some info about it afterwards.
Regular beta test invites are still going out also. But I'm not ever lucky enough to get in.
I'm not either. I'm just glad my friend isn't hugely excited for this like I am.. means I'll get a good amount of playing time.
I NEVER play betas much, because I don't want things to be spoiled, but I've wanted to at least get my hands on it for a long time now, make a character, and mess around. Pretty excited.
I just checked my email and at a glance I saw The Old Republic. I was very excited for a split second, then noticed it was some pre-order advertisement.
