Can you not watch the game and determine if the player played well or not or do you have to use some amateur stat system to figure that out?

I mean, I recognize the value of PFF, and even talk to those guys on twitter from time to time. But they are far from the end all when it comes to how someone played. Saying he's been Jamaal Anderson bad might have been a wee bit harsh, but if you think he's been a productive pass rusher thus far, you are insane.

I'd consider teh 3-4 times he beat double teams when the defense was being max protected against. Teams have been double teaming Ray, not the middle this year.

but you have to look at where in the rotation he is taking over, and that's not the spot where he has to make 3 sacks a game. He's taking over a spot where there was a combined 5 sacks the past 3 years (the Jamaal Anderson Spot). And he has easily been worth the 5M there, especially with the DT's being down to just 1 guy who is starting caliber (Jerry). Imagine when we get Babineaux and Peters fully healthy. it will be scary.

no, I'm going based on what I've seen and I've seen much better pressure from the front 4 this year. I've also seen teams bring in another blocker almost every play because of it. And that's with a weak interior pass rush. Between Abraham, Biermann, Sidbury and Edwards the pass rush is much improved from last year. There is a reason why teams try to double the outside edges almost every play. Does it not help the defense to have one less pass route to worry about every play? Not to mention how much better he has been against the run.

But seriously, could anyone imagine if we got Charles Johnson? Yeah he got overpaid. But that dude is a monster.

I'm actually fed up with this protection. Pathetic that our quarterback is getting drilled all day back there.

Half on him and half on the absolutely terrible O-Line, they are by far the worst part of this team...

Lots to be excited about down here. But seriously, I'm probably most mad at Roddy. Yeah there were a lot of other things, but Roddy's out star. Two huge ******* drops. Inexcusable.

Hate to lose it on a play like that. ****** game. Only TD came in the 4th quarter, this is not the 2003 Bucs defense here, wtf.

Agreed, that was a walk in TD, and ya we got a first down but it cost us the game. Matt throwing to Quizz on 4th was pretty dumb, Edwards doesnt look much better than JA98 IMO, hes been awful.

The offsides on Peters just defines our defensive coaching, that has to be on Van Gorder, everyone in America knew they were not running a play. I still have no idea why he or Mularky havent been fired, coaching on both sides of the ball right now has held us back, notice the only time the offense moves the ball is in the no huddle. As far as the defense, I'm sure everyone is shocked we had 0 sacks again...all that crazy pressure

Van Gorder sucks, but he wasn't on the field jumping offsides.

We got like 7 good pass rushing D-linemen both on the inside and outside. Then you have guys like William Moore and Sean Weatherspoon who have great athleticism and speed to get to the QB, but still we can't get anything.
Maybe it's time to look at the D-Coordinator.

No he wasn't but I still find it hard to believe that you dont tell your D-line to just stay still.
Also, can we seriously not find a better option than ******* Bosher to kick off and punt? The guy is terrible

Say what you want about the defense, but they weren't horrible. The last play was ********, though.
If we had Aaron Rodgers we would have the best offense in the league. Matt's accuracy is inconsistent, he looks short too often when it's third or fourth down, and he has possibly the worst deep ball in the league.
Our top two receivers are physical freaks. Our TE and RBs are weapons.
The defense, on paper, looks mediocre. The offense does not.
It is that side of the ball that is failing to perform.

Julio Jones finally stepped up. Roddy had the stats, but man he had some big drops. Perfectly thrown ball to his outside shoulder on that go, just right off his hands. TD to win the game, just turned his head before he caught it. Right now the real problem IMO is O-Line and RB. The O-Line is top 5 worst in the league. Michael Turner is abysmal out there. He was awful in the Eagles game too other than one big run. No explosion (gasp, we've heard this before).

Man if we really just had a RB with some explosion that would make a huge difference.

Eh. Don't see RB as an issue. Even if he's not explosive.
The OL is a much bigger concern, biggest on offense IMO by a longshot.

Easily. Sam Baker might need a replacement and Garrett Reynolds needs to learn the ropes of the NFL, quick - otherwise Matt Ryan and Turner are going to get killed.
Man this whole season as an Atlanta fan has been bizarre. We have never been a team to turnover the ball so much and be penalized so damn much. For this reason, I hold hope for the rest of the season for the chance at becoming the disciplined team that Mike Smith and TD built. Our schedule eases up with the Seahawks, Panthers, and Lions (Suh agains Reynolds? Gulp) as the next 3/4 opponents so we have time to get this machine rolling.
