Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was in a downcast mood after the Falcons victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
It wasn’t the gray skies or the rainy weekend spent in the Pacific Northwest, either.
For the second game in a row, White, the Falcons All-Pro wide receiver, had two dropped passes in the fourth quarter. One of his drops against Tampa Bay could have given the Falcons a lead and perhaps avoided a 16-13 defeat.
Against Seattle, his drops were not as crucial, but could have helped the offense run out the clock.
“Right now, I’m not playing at a high level,” White said. “I’m not really helping my team. I have to fix myself so that we can perform better. We’ll get better.”
White was targeted on 11 passes. He made six catches for 78 yards, including a 26-yarder that set up Michael Turner’s 1-yard touchdown run to give the Falcons a 21-7 lead in the second quarter.
White overcame a problem with drops earlier in his career.
“Yeah, those are plays that I usually make,” White said. “I’ve just got to make them. I can’t keep putting my team in bad situations.”
White has been bothered by a deep thigh bruise he suffered in the preseason. He was listed on the Friday injury report as being questionable for the game. He doesn’t want to use the injury as an excuse, even though he hasn’t fully practice for the last two weeks.

I remember when Roddy White had the least amount of drops in the whole league. He's playing like a rookie again.

Why are we throwing the ball so much? Matt Ryan can't hit anyone.

You know what's really fun? Limited cap flexibility, dead weight, and no first round draft pick! Hell yes!

If we grab a pass rusher with our first rounder that would help things a lot.
Or a LT.
Or a FS.
Wait,
f#*k.

DeCoud is absolutely awful. I agree Matt Ryan didn't look good yesterday. I feel like I'm starting to sound like an Eli Manning apologist but those INTs were rough, both on tipped balls that could have been caught. Moreso the Roddy White one than the Tony G one, which would have been a tough grab. I hate that the Harry Douglas catch was ruled incomplete, perfect ball and we were still in the game at that point, I guess Douglas had to hang on to it but IMO it was clear that it was knocked out after he had hit the floor with possession. Sam Baker is absolutely embarrassing, completely ruined that one drive where we were in Packers territory and he totally whiffed on his block. Garrett Reynolds improved and still looked bad out there. We have a ton of work to do.

Matt Ryan simply can place the ball more than twenty yards down the field.
Ironic, considering how deadly his deep ball to Roddy was his rookie year.

How DeCoud and Owens play over Sanders and Hayden, I have no idea.

DeCoud really fell of recently, I used to love him. At least Grimes is still playing like a probowler, too bad for us he's yet to be paid. This team is just cursed with pass rush, why can't we get to the QB??????
Oh and while I wanna judge Matt Ryan, he still hasn't played with an LT who he can really rely on. Baker (sigh), Game after game, he's doing worse and worse.
Also we should run more reverses and end-arounds with Julio Jones and Eric Weems. I wanna see some screen and bubble plays, I don't trust Matt Ryan throwing downfield with this O-Line. He doesn't have enough time to make an accurate throw.

Feels like the '09 season, we all expected a huge jump from Matt Ryan, yet he seems to have digressed. Our offense isn't as efficient as the previous year. I think both '09 and '11 have to due with having a cake schedule the previous season, then we play some good teams and struggle.

the worst part about 2-3 is we could have very easily lost those 2 games...the 1-4 Eagles and the terrible Seahawks.

We'll probably end 8-8 or 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Our schedule ends a lot easier than it began. That is unless we turn it on. I could see very well see us as a playoff team. I want to see Babineaux and Abraham play in the same game, could be part of the reason our pass rush has struggled so much. O-Line has to improve, but I don't see it happening. Matt Ryan isn't a Cutler type in the pocket where he can evade a ton of guys, he needs rhythm to get going.

We're lucky to get that INT. Newton is killing us.

The lack of pass rush is killing us. Unsurprisingly, when we've brought Spoon (who has turned into a monster) and got pressure, we've done well.
But BVG is our DC. So look for more 4 man rushes, and then 3 man rushes on big 3rd downs.

What the **** has happened to John Abraham? And did we sign a DE this offseason, or did we just bring Jamaal back? Because I can't sense a ******* difference.

Good 4th quarter. Turner has been a beast all day, if not for stupid penalties he would have easily had 200 yards rushing.

Ray proceeded to have a very nice 2nd half. Finally.
