I hope with Feldman and Forde leaving ESPN they're really going to expose how ESPN is running a lot of this. Big East would have a great lawsuit if they wanted to pursue it.

Not if Boise, Air Force and UCF come to Big East. Big East would still be the better conference.

It's going to be for football only. I'm not sure if the new MWC/C-USA duo will let them keep their other sports though.

I'm assuming a MWC CUSA merger would lead to those teams like Boise and Air Force staying put.

Exactly I'm not a lawyer but tortious interference seems very applicable in the big east situation. Maybe not as much so with BYU but it's possible as the media companies may or may not be legally viewed as league partners wrt membership.

Tortious interference, also known as intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of tort, occurs when a person intentionally damages the plaintiff's contractual or other business relationships. This tort is broadly divided into two categories, one specific to contractual relationships (irrespective of whether they involve business), and the other specific to business relationships or activities (irrespective of whether they involve a contract).

I thought of that but I'm really not sure. Anyway as usual the Big East powers that be are terrible. Always to little to late.

Bad academically is really an understatement. They barely exist academically.

It's pretty much it.
And I'm just loving the MW/C-USA merger. I wonder what will happen with the WAC, they're pretty much reduced to Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Texas-San Antonio, Texas State and Utah State. That's not a FBS conference imo.

Sounds like Houston and SMU are going to get Big East invites also. I don't know if all those teams join the Big East or they stay to form the merger.

The Big East extending 3 all sports invites and 3 football only invites as is rumored doesn't make a ton of sense to me. I could be counting wrong but that still makes 17 basketball schools and then 12 football schools which would obviously be nice. I'd think that 2 all sports invites and 4 football only would make more sense if they could pull that off, maybe that's just me.

Looks like invitations will be forthcoming for Boise, Air Force, Houston, SMU, Navy, and UCF. Divisions will be Boise/Air Force/SMU/Houston/Louisville/Cincinnati in the West and UConn/Rutgers/UCF/USF/Navy/WVU in the East.
Boise, Navy, Air Force will be football only. Houston, SMU, UCF will be all sports.
Temple was being discussed but Villanova blocked them.

I hope Boise and AFA stay in the MW/MWC-USA/whatever this thing is going to be called. It must be bad to travel to Boise or Colorado to New Jersey and Tampa every now and then.

Big East is dead. Boise and Air Force are declining invites. I might have to beg to get to the ACC or Big 10 now.

The Big East needs Boise to accept an invite and for the Big XII to compromise on both Texas and Oklahoma's demands by still creating an easy path to the national championship but still expanding to 12 by inviting New Mexico, Rice, and Tulane, especially if Mizzou leaves for the SEC. That way they would replace the two departing AAU institutions with two new ones (Rice, Tulane) while also expanding into new markets with a solid basketball team (New Mexico, Albuquerque 44th tv market).
If Boise AND Air Force decline Big East invites then the Big East is forced to expand to 12 by inviting Temple and Memphis. In that event their BCS status takes a hit by inviting to mediocre to horrible football schools instead of one with two BCS bowl appearances on their resume.

I have to give the Conf-USA/MWC credit on making a move here. They have pretty much created the first "superconference". It will be interesting to see if this will give them a shot at an automatic BCS bid. Hopefully they just keep the Conf USA name and split it into two divisions - East and West. That way the name actually will apply to the conference.
I really hate the idea of teams like Boise or Houston going to the Big East because of the geographic issues.
When is Forde leaving ESPN? Where is he going? NVM...going to Yahoo on NOV. 1
I would love to see Forde expose the affect ESPN has had on all this conference realignment.

Don't forget that Bruce Feldman left also because of the same thing. They are going to expose ESPN big time.

I hope they do...ESPN has pretty much become a monopoly. I am glad VS is out there now but realistically no one can compete with ESPN at this time. Hopefully Feldman and Forde break down a few walls.

As far as their reach and influence, no. No one can reach ESPN but as far as content, breaking news, and better opinions CBSsports.com has them beat by a long shot.
Ranking on-line content, talent, and journalism I rank it CBSsports 1a, Yahoo 1b, ESPN 3.

Missouri to the SEC should officially happen this week according to the NY Times.
