Sorry about Ovie. I was jealous you guys had a good fullback and actually use him. The Lions countless runs up the middle with no lead blocker drive me to drink.

I'm securely fixed on my couch, but thanks for looking out, haha.
I knew the Falcons would beat Detroit. I wanted to believe otherwise, but the Lions shot themselves in the foot time after time, and couldn't prevent Turner from getting his big gains at critical times.

The offense had a pretty bad game for you guys. WR's are dropping everything and running wrong routes.

Conservative play calling didn't help. The last 3 weeks, they've been completely screwing up every time they reach the redzone. Anything other than a fade route to Calvin is the wrong call.

He really does lack the "IT" factor. He looks the exact same as he did as a rookie, obv as a rookie that was great, but he made a lot of poor throws today, both picks were awful, and his deep ball is lacking. Looks like he will remain a solid QB throughout his career, but def not one we can lean on game to game like Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Brady...

Matt Ryan blows.
Needs to get on the diet plan Tom Brady got on after he got in the league. Brady's arm is much stronger than it once was.

Detroit's defense is giving up a lot of yards on the ground and teams are using tricks to get Suh out of position. He will have to adjust if he wants to keep up with the hype.
Stafford is not getting solid pass protection as teams dare the Lions to beat them by running the ball and come after Stafford on every play.
The Lions will have to adjust or see their solid start go nowhere.

It's not even his arm. His arm strength is passable. It's the fact that he hasn't been accurate.

He's not accurate either.
But when throwing it deep he definitely has a tendency to overcompensate on his throws because he doesn't have confidence in his arm. He doesn't have a good arm at all. He can't just improv and chuck it downfield a la the NFL's top QBs. A good bit of that has to do with the offense but the point stands. An offense with a power running game, a good tight end, and two big-time receivers should not have difficulties stretching the field vertically.
But yeah, his accuracy has fallen off. He's good for a few WTF throws each game.

We really need to make sure we find a replacement for Turner soon.

Turner has been very good this year, I didn't think he would play as well as he is. I think we're good at RB for another year especially now with Rodgers backing up.

I don't get the whole "Ryan doesn't have an arm" thing. He's made some inaccurate throws and poor decisions this season, not to completely take the blame off him but alot of it has to due with him being blown up once every 3-4 drop backs. It's tough to change to a passing team in just one season, especially without the proper training camp and off-season workouts. I think we finally make that transition next year.

Remember though, we all thought Turner was dead last year. His speed is shot. The drive in his legs could go any time... and with Matt the way he's been playing, and the OL the way it is, I'd hate to see us without a running game.

I think Turner's power will remain for a bit.
He doesn't have a ton of wear and tear on him, even if his speed has deteriorated.
However, after next year I see us taking a back relatively high.

this.
remember early in ryans career, when he emphasized short and mid range accuracy by studying other QBs? he developed into one of the more accurate short and mid range guys around.
i think we are seeing a transition period where he works on timing and accuracy issues with his deep throws now. it doesnt help that there was no offseason/tc for him to get into rhythm, but i am sure he will work on it more and more - he actually completed an over the shoulder pass on sunday!
ryan may not have the arm strength to zip a ball 40 yards like brees or arod, but he STILL has that work ethic that everyone raved about. he will continue to get better.

My internet has been down since Sat night, but this is my first post since being back... THAT cheap hit by Delmas on Ovie was the main reason I just logged back in here.
I have been complaining about these exact type of cheap, dirty, wreckless, and dangerous "HITS" for 2 years.
Someone took our Jordan Shipley the same way early this year, now Louis Delmas does it again. He did it to J-Mike 2 years ago, but luckily for us Finley had just taken a step and got going and didn't still have his foot planted in the ground.
Delmas is a punk and a coward. These hits with the helmet/shoulder into the side or front of the knee are NOT HOW ANYONE WAS EVER TAUGHT how to tackle. It's not clean. It's uncalled for.
I was an advocate to the NFL a decade+ ago to penalize the horse collar, and then the Brady-rule.
It's now time they start acting and fining people like Delmas who can't tackle like MEN---- especially when they get free shots like this play!
I'm not a proponent of violence, but if there ever was a loose stray bullet in the city of Detroit, it would have to land somewhere right? I'd not shed a tear if it landed in Delmas' ACL.
I hate that guy more than any player in the NFL.

Yeah, Ovie's done from the year despite his tweets saying he'd be back soon and it looked worse than it was. Damn shame. Big blow to our running game, as he's easily the best FB in the NFL.

I wish the NFL could do something about those cheap hits, but they happen a million times a game. The problem is that a lot of these DBs will have a problem tackling the FBs and TE if they do it the way it's been taught.

So how do you guys think the injury to Ovie will effect our offense?
We might have some trouble scoring in the redzone.
