Agreed. It's like he tries to be some sort of Shaq for baseball, but he just tries way too hard and comes off as fake and lame in the process.

Aramis elected free agency.. what do you guys think about his landing options? I would like the O's to maybe move Reynolds to first and Aramis at third... probably a long shot.
And does anybody know anything of Darren O'Day? D-unit?

Submarine righty middle reliever. Was really successful with Texas in both 2009 and 2010, but he was sidelined with a shoulder injury all 2011. I liked it as a no risk waiver claim

Excellent job by Kansas City on selling high on Melky. Had a great year but isn't the type of outfielder you give a long term contract and you turned him into a potential 3-4 starter in a young, lefthanded Sanchez. Great trade by Kansas City.

Wow, I think Dayton Moore stole Sanchez. I like Melky, but he's meh to me.

They better hope Francouer can repeat last season. I think they would have taken 1 of Francouer or Melky repeating their 2011 seasons.

I can't bring myself to agree with you. Mostly as a hopeful Braves fan, also as someone who figures the Royals still really need more SP.

In fairness, he is generally decent. A slightly above replacement level OF. Which makes the trade pretty fair, considering Sanchez is a slightly above replacement level SP.

Yes. Didn't know if the Giants were even going to tender Sanchez. His arbitration number is well above his worth. He is an absolute walk-machine. He's got great stuff sometimes, but he just can't find the strikezone enough to justify a spot in the Giants' stacked rotation.

It's rare that a baseball GM only be given four years, but Bill Smith only needed four months to prove what a ****** GM he was.

It takes a special kind of stupid to take us from where we were to where we are as quickly as he did. Still I'm shocked, this team usually isn't one to make such quick decisions even when they're needed.

Not a surprising career year, though. What Melky did was no fluke. Still, you can't not trade him in that situation. OF for SP? Every day of the week you do that, if you're the Royals.
Both teams gambled, but KC is in the better position because they got a starting pitcher and will have at least gotten something out of it by 2013 because Sanchez and Cabrera could be be free agents at the end of the season.
Moore has already said they won't extend Sanchez until after the season's over. They don't want to put any roadblocks in the progression of their young starters who are coming through the system. And that's straight from Dayton Moore's mouth.

I don't like to trash players that get traded/released from the Giants, but I have to in this case. Sanchez is trash. Nice arm. Zero control. Blows through a pitch-count after 4 innings. Just a drain on your bullpen. Too bad the Royals got him. I've been rooting for them (Hosmer <3 ) and I'd hate for Sanchez to do what Sanchez do on that staff.
I'm fairly confident the Giants were going to non-tender him anyway. Unless they somehow could get someone to take Zito, then there was no place for Sanchez in SF. They sure as **** weren't putting him in the bullpen. He'd come in and walk the bases loaded before giving way to the next reliever.

A slightly better Oliver Perez is Sanchez. Does this mean Torres is as good as gone now?
